Dentist Dilemma

Anyone else have dentist problems? I am absolutely terrified of them and just recently went after not going for a LONG time. . .

But, today I took Josh for the very first time. I realize Josh is already 11 but there is NO WAY I could have taken him any sooner than this - it would have been a terrible experience for ALL of us and would have been a horrible memory. So I took him to the pediatric dentist in R.D. who, I believed, had YEARS of experience dealing with special needs kids and their families. I was worried about Josh and whether or not he would even ALLOW the dentist to look at his teeth. Turns out, I didn't need to worry at all.

Josh did a GREAT job. It was the dentist that was a complete jerk - the first words out of his mouth to me when he looked at Josh's teeth were, "Why did you wait so long?" He proceeded to further emphasize my delinquency by pointing out EVERY SINGLE thing that was wrong with Josh's mouth. UMMMMM. . . I KNOW his mouth is a mess - I'm not blind, for crying out loud. That's why we're here but I don't need YOU to tell me and make me feel like the worst mother on the planet. So, needless to say, we will NOT be returning to this particular dentist and are on the search AGAIN. Oh - and, get this, even if we were going to stay with this dentist, it would be 10-12 MONTHS before they can get him in to do the work! Ummmmm - I don't think so!

*sigh*
