Another Color Dare Wednesday

Morning everyone! You'll have to excuse my frantic post this morning - I forgot to come back and finish it after I uploaded the pics so when I woke up this morning I PANICKED!  I have a few minutes now before the kids get up for school, so here I am!

This week's color combo over at the Color Dare is Poppy Parade, So Saffron and Very Vanilla.  I decided to use the Unscripted Sketches newest sketch as well as the Paper Players' challenge to make a Valentine's card:

OH - I also decorated a coordinating envelope for this week's challenge at Just Us Girls.  :)

I will try to come back later to post the deets on my card - time to get the monsters up!  Later gators!

Color Dare #90

Three more sleeps... ;)  Today's the last day of school for the boys and then they're off until just after the new year.  I'm looking forward to spending some time with them - not much longer and they're not going to *want* to hang out with mom.  *sniff*

This week's Color Dare combination is a PERFECT one to use if you have a couple of last-minute cards left to do: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Soft Suede...yummy.

I used the Unscripted Sketches sketch from last week, rotated it ninety degrees and voila:

Stamps: Doves and Holly (Flourishes)  Ink: Soft Suede, Old Olive  Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, SU! DSP, Old Olive  Accessories: Paper piercer, Cherry Cobbler seam binding, adhesive pearls, Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder

I love how this card turned out - I wasn't sure about the combination at first but once I got them all together, I was a believer.  :)  You know we love it when you play along with us...we get such great ideas from you guys.  Enjoy the next few days before Christmas and I'll see you tomorrow for a new 4 Crafty Chicks challenge - see you then!

With Sympathy at the 4 Crafty Chicks

It's a brand new challenge at the 4 Crafty Chicks!  This week's hostess-with-the-mostess is yours truly and this week I am challenging you to make a sympathy card.  I always find that this type of card is one of the hardest to make and I don't make them very often but they are always nice to have on-hand for those unexpected moments.

I immediately knew I wanted to use Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Basic Grey and the SU! set, Thoughts and Prayers, for my card so I went in search of a sketch and found this lovely one at Unscripted Sketches:

I had to rotate the sketch 90 degrees to accomodate my tree image and added some ribbon and paper piercing to create this:

Recipe - Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers (SU!)  Ink: Basic Grey, Versafine Onyx Black  Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Basic Grey, SU! DSP  Accessories: paper piercer, black satin ribbon, dimensionals, Beautiful Wings embosslit, adhesive pearl, Victoria embossing folder

Take a few minutes to stop and see what the other Crafty Chicks created - they all did a fabulous job with this challenge.  I hope you will play along with us this week ~ I know it's not a really *fun* theme but it's one we will all need a card for sooner or later.  Enjoy your weekend - we are off to visit my mom and dad this afternoon but will be back on Sunday with a new Sentimental Sundays challenge.  See you then!

PPC #35 & Unscripted Sketches #77

Welcome to another week, everyone!  It's Monday and that can only mean one thing - a brand new Picture Perfect Creations Color Combo from Megan.  This week's combination is quite lovely, if I do say so myself:

I spent most of the weekend reading the Percy Jackson series so I didn't have much time for crafting.  Yes, I read the entire series in a weekend -- I read until the wee hours of the morning and neglected my family for two and a half days.  Was it worth it?  Definitely.  Now I can't wait to read the first book in Rick Riordan's newest series, The Lost Hero.  So, anyways... I needed to make my card quickly so I popped over to Unscripted Sketches to see if theirs would work and, thank goodness, it did:

Recipe - Stamps: Proverbs 3:5 (Verve)  Ink: Chocolate Chip  Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, SU! DSP  Accessories: Scallop Circle punch, Square Lattice embossing folder, brad, paper piercer, Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, Little Leaves Sizzlit, circle punches

I hope you can join us this week at PPC - if you need more inspiration, please stop by the rest of the PPC Creators blogs to see what they created for us...their links are to the left.  :)  See you soon!

Friday Morning Fun

YIPPEE!!!  It's Friday!!  I am VERY ready for the weekend.  Not too sure yet what it will bring but I'm sure crafting will be involved at some point... :)

I didn't have to go in to work today so I had the whole morning free to do whatever my little heart desired and, well, wouldn't you know it?  Making a card was the winner!  I saw the Color Throwdown's combination a couple of days ago and knew I had to create {something} since my fave Poppy Parade is one of the colors:

I picked out my new CC Designs Baby Trick or Treat Dragon Stamp for the image and off I went to find a sketch.  Unscripted Sketches #76 fit the bill:

Isn't he cute? I had a hard time figuring out how to color the little dude, but eventually came up with something I am OK with.

Have a great Friday - I am off to do some baking since it is cloudy and cool here today {and it's been a LONG time since I've had time to bake...}  Right now I've got dough for Pumpkin Cinnamon Buns rising and then I'm going to make some Caramel Apple Cupcakes.  Both are new-to-me recipes so I'll let you know how it goes.  :)  See you later!

Unscripted Sketches #72 & Colour Q #50

Hi everyone!

I'm going to make this post short and sweet - I've been home sick all day but wanted to get this card posted before I forgot about it.  I used Arielle's Colour Q challenge (can you believe she's at #50 already??) and the sketch from Unscripted Sketches (rotated):

Recipe - Stamps: Forever in Our Hearts (Verve), Vintage Labels (SU!)  Ink: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler  Paper: SU! DSP, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait  Accessories: Paper piercer, sewing machine, taffeta ribbon, SU! border punch, adhesive pearls, hodgepodge hardware frame, oval punches

This card also qualifies for Stampin' Royalty #37 Challenge to use stitching.

Thanks for stopping by - don't forget to check out the new challenge over at the 4 Crafty Chicks!  We'd love to have you join us!  See you soon!

Unscripted Sketches and TCP Tuesday

I'm back!  Didja' miss me?  I've got a quick one for you this afternoon - I combined the TCP Tuesday Color challenge from a couple of weeks ago with this week's sketch from Unscripted Sketches:

I got to use the last of my new stamps from The Cat's Pajamas - I totally love this bunny and his ears!!

Recipe - Stamp: Forget About the Cake (The Cat's Pajamas)  Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Denim Blue, Kraft  Ink: Versafine Onyx Black  Accessories: Gridlock embossing folder (Sizzix/Tim Holtz), paper piercer, Copics, Copic Spica atyou glitter pen, Kraft corduroy buttons, buttons, hemp twine, eyelet, Kraft die cut tag, grosgrain ribbon, clear embossing powder

I started by stamping the image with the Versafine and then clear embossing it.  I colored it with my Copics using my colorless blender to make some polka dots on the red cake layers to give it a bit of texture. This new Tim Holtz embossing folder is awesome - it'll be great for those {boy} cards that need a bit of dimension without being frilly.

That's it for me today - enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Act #42 & Unscripted Sketches

How fun are the new In Colors from Stampin' Up???  Well, I can only {hope} that they are as lovely as they look because, sadly, I {still} don't have any of them...*sniff*... yet.  :)  I FINALLY placed an order with my enabler, Lori, the other day and my new stuff should be here within the next couple of weeks!

So, in order to play with Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge this week, I had to be {creative}.  I dug through my stash of non-SU! cardstock (mostly Bazzill stuff that was on sale at my LSS) and found something that I {think} is close to the Peach Parfait and then used some Basic Grey paper that looks like it could be Pear Pizazz.  I had a few scraps of Early Espresso that Lori had given me awhile back for another project so I made good use of what I had left.

I used the newest sketch from Unscripted Sketches:

And got this:

Stamp: Meditations (Verve)  Paper: Early Espresso, Basic Grey DP, Very Vanilla, Bazzill CS  Ink: Chocolate Chip  Accessories: Paper piercer, satin flower, buttons, gingham ribbon, twine
The rest of the Curtain Call Crew has samples to show you today, too, so make sure you stop by to see:
