SSSC199 & Curtain Call {Christmas Countdown}

OH. MY. LORD!!!! First off I just want to say how incredibly thankful I am that I have a warm home to lay my head - it is FREAKIN' COLD here.  Like, not just *chilly* but freeze-your-arse-off-in-less-than-a-minute cold. Yesterday when I woke up, it was -37C but with the wind, it felt like -49C! I'll convert that for all you Farenheit-ers...-34.6F or -56.2F with the wind chill - a perfect excuse to stay inside and craft, wouldn't you say?  :)

It's time for a new Sweet Sunday Sketch  - #199.  Can you believe it?  I bet Karen's got something fun up her sleeve for #200...we'll have to wait and see!  For now, here's the sketch for the next two weeks:

I used the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge for my card...it's all about Christmas this time of year:

I dug out an old There She Goes set, Holly Jolly for this one - LOVE the jingle bell accents, don't you?

For You... {Curtain Call & Retrosketches}

Welcome back, all! I've got a quick card to share with you all today.  The inspiration photo over at the Curtain Call challenge is a gorgeous, fall table setting - all decked out in sunflowers...perfect for this time of the year:

So I pulled out one of The Alley Way Stamps' newest releases, Give Thanks, and got to work making a card using this week's Retrosketches:

Thanks for stopping in today - have a fabulous weekend!  Enjoy the amazing fall weather wherever you are!

It's a Sweet Sunday Sketch & Curtain Call Combo Card!!!

Good morning, everyone! Has it really been two weeks since the last Sweet Sunday Sketch?  AND it's September already????  Good golly!  Time sure flies.  :)  I'm so glad you all stopped by today because, not only do I have a new sketch to share with you, I've got the new Curtain Call challenge too!  The Alley Way Stamps is sponsoring the new Curtain Call so Stacey asked us to help the CC Crew show off some TAWS amazingness!  :)

So, first up...the new sketch - clean & simple to the core:

Of course, there are MANY ways to make it crazy-fussy, but I stayed pretty true to the sketch.  The new Curtain Call inspiration photo is all about "Back to School" so my card ended up putting a *twist* on the expected:

I used the ruler stamp from Learning Curve (which just so happens to be the set someone could win over at the Curtain Call Challenge), and the "you" and "me" are from Jibber Jabber - actually, the "me" is from the end of "welcome" since I don't have a "me" stamp!  The chalkboard technique was PERFECT for this challenge so I went with it and made this card for someone special:

I had to use a white pencil crayon for the + sign and the line but I kind of like how this card turned out...the colors were also right from the inspiration photo.  :)

What do you think?  Are you ready to play along with both challenges?  Need to see more?  All of the fabulous Sweet Sunday Stampers have sketchy inspiration for you, so please stop by and say hello to:

Vicki Burdick

And don't forget to check out the Curtain Call to see how their Crew interpreted this awesome picture.  I'll be back tomorrow so please try to stop back in.  :)  Have a great Sunday!

SSSC190 & Curtain Call {Watermelon Wonder}

Welcome back! Have you all been enjoying your weekend?  It's been a crazy one here and I was glad to have a few minutes to play in my craft room ALONE.  :)  I'm sure all you busy moms out there know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's time for a brand new Sweet Sunday Sketch and, surprise-surprise, I decided to rotate it 90* for my card so that's what's shown here:

I really like this sketch and decided to pull out some dies I had never used before as well as some that just haven't seen enough love lately.  The rolled flowers are from Sizzix, "Thank" and the leaves are from Paper Smooches and the "U" is from Verve.  I think they all work perfectly together, don't you?

I also used the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge photo for this card.  I took some inspiration from the flowers on the wall and a bit from the colors - my colors are a bit more muted than the ones in the photos but I really like how my card turned out. :)

Thanks for stopping in today - I'll be back tomorrow so don't forget to pop by.  :)  Enjoy your Sunday!

4CCC-151 {For the Boys} & Mojo 302 & Curtain Call

Welcome back for another 4 Crafty Chicks' Challenge! This week, Tamie is our hostess with the mostest and before she left on holidays, she told us to make projects "For the Boys," so that's just what we did.  :)

This month's new release over at The Alley Way Stamps features two nautical/pirate-y sets, Blackbeard's Loot & Land HO!, so when I saw the inaugural Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge, I knew I had to use them for my card:

And since the sponsor over at The Curtain Call is Verve (one of my favorite stamp companies EVER!), I figured I'd use this week's Mojo Monday sketch:

Thanks for stopping by today - make sure to come back tomorrow for our new BE Inspired Challenge over at TAWS - you're gonna love the inspiration photo!  See you then!

It's All About Stitching at The 4 Crafty Chicks!

Hi everyone!  How are you doing this fine Thursday?  I said it yesterday and I'm saying it again today... I'm TIRED of winter.  This cold and snowy weather can go far, far away.  *sigh*  There is a light at the end of the tunnel, right?

This week over at the 4 Crafty Chicks, Leanne has given us the challenge of stitching on our cards...either faux or real - you decide.  :)  I kind of {heart} stitching...have you noticed??  *wink*

I found this absolutely LOVELY photo inspiration over at the Curtain Call Color Challenge - it almost makes me feel warmer...almost.  :)

All I needed was a super-fantastic sketch to get started and found the "Round or Square" sketches over at Mojo Monday (more fabulousness from Mary Fish).  I decided to go square:

There's another challenge over at the Verve Stamps Blog right now - the Verve Fan Blog Hop.  The rules are pretty simple: "Just make a new card using at least one Verve stamp, post it online somewhere (blog or public online gallery)..."  Well, here's the thing... I *did* use a Verve stamp but it's only the sentiment. Now, I'm the kind of gal who normally wouldn't enter this kind of challenge *just* using a sentiment but, gosh-darn-it, there are Verve prizes up for grabs!!!  So, I am reluctantly entering because I am jonesing for some new Verve and would LOVE to win!  HA!

Stamps: Upsy Daisy (SU!), Celebrating You (Verve)  Ink: More Mustard, So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler  Paper: More Mustard, Kraft, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, SU! DSP  Accessories: Sewing machine, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Lacey Circles & Circle Nesties, Cherry Cobbler seam binding, button, Scallop Edge border punch

I hope you will join us for our 4 Crafty Chicks stitching challenge - we love to visit and see what you create.  Don't forget to stop in at the other Chicks' blogs to see what marvellousness they've created.  :)  Enjoy the rest of your day!!

Mojo Monday and Curtain Call

Hi everyone!

I forgot about this card - I made it earlier in the week but forgot to come back and finish my post for it!  Nice one, eh?  So, I made it for a couple of challenges - Stacey's Curtain Call (that I am now too late for) and Mojo Monday

I'm not totally thrilled with it - it's *almost* too busy...wait...did I say that???  Me, the queen of layers and embellies thinks a card is too busy?  *sigh*  What is the world coming to?  :)

Stamps: Psalm 19:14 Plain Jane, Thankful Accents (Verve)  Ink: Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette  Paper: Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, SU! DSP, De-Lovely DSP (Cosmo Cricket)  Accessories: Sewing machine, Pink Pirouette grosgrain ribbon, Wild Wasabi ribbon, crocheted flower, hat pin, adhesive gems

Thanks for stopping - it's supper time and then I think the boys and I are going to head off to the Lethbridge Hurricanes' hockey game tonight.  See you tomorrow for a new Sentimental Sundays Challenge!

A Sketch Challenge at the 4 Crafty Chicks

Welcome back for another fun-filled week at the 4 Crafty Chicks.  This week's hostess-with-the-mostest is Leanne and she's whipped up this awesome sketch for you all to play with:

I don't seem to find the time to play along with Stacey's Curtain Call as often as I'd like to so when I saw this week's combo - such a YUMMY inspiration picture - I knew I had to play along.

Stamps: Treasure Life (CTMH)  Ink: Chocolate Chip  Paper: Almost Amethyst, Cajun Craze, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, SU! DSP  Accessories: Paper piercer, buttons, Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, Nesties, sponge dauber, adhesive pearls

I hope you'll take a few minutes to stop by the other Chicks' blogs - I know they have created some amazing cards this week.  Thanks for popping by today - tomorrow's FRIDAY and my oldest turns 15!  ACK!  How did that happen???  *smile*  See ya later!

4 Crafty Chicks and a Bit of Metal

Welcome back everyone!  How's your week going so far?  We are still trying to dig out from under all the snow we got last weekend...so much fun!  It's been nice because it means I get to stay HOME and do stuff around here (like craft...shhhhhhhh.  :)

This week's 4 Crafty Chicks challenge is brought to you by ME and I'm looking for you to use some metal on your card.  You can think "outside of the box" for this one, though...you could use metallic paper, embossing powder, ink, charms, brads...the possibilities are endless.

When I saw Stacey's inspiration picture over at the Curtain Call Color Challenge, I knew I had to use it for *something* this week since we had so much of the white stuff (even if it *does* have the dreaded Pacific Point...)

I love this week's Paperworks Co. sketch - clean and simple lines should make for a quick card:

Wow - this card was hard to photograph with all the white.  You'll see my little bit of metal up in the top right part of the corner - a Hodgepodge Hardware swirly clip:

Stamps: Tiny Tags (SU!)  Paper: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke  Ink: Cherry Cobbler  Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder, paper piercer, Scor-It, Nesties, Cherry Cobbler seam binding, twine, Jewelry Tag punch, 3-D Flowers Die (Sizzix), Sweetest Stem embosslit, Hodgepodge Hardware

I also made a coordinating envelope for the Just Us Girls challenge this week:

I hope you will take a few minutes to play along with us this week - we'd love to see what you create for our metal challenge.  If you need a little bit of inspiration, please visit the other Chicks' blogs and see what goodies they've got goin' on...

Enjoy your day!

Hanging With My Peeps at the 4 Crafty Chicks!

Are you ready to play with the 4 Crafty Chicks?  We are so excited this week because not only is the Golden Egg award up for grabs but this week is our CRAZY EGG challenge!  Most months only have four Thursdays but when there are five Thursdays we want to celebrate by offering a PRIZE!!  Isn't that exciting?  So, to commemorate our very first Crazy Egg challenge, we want to see a card or project with a chick or bird on it...makes sense, right?

So, I went through my stamps and discovered that I don't have very many sets with birds or chicks on them.  I did find one that, *shhhhhh....*, had never seen ink and I knew it would be perfect.  I LOVE Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge colors this week:

And Jen's Sketch For You To Try was a match made in heaven:

So I rotated it a bit and...

Recipe - Stamps: Spring Fling (Pink Paislee), sentiment from Hangin' With My Peeps (MFT)  Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Sahara Sand, SU! DSP  Ink: Versafine Onyx Black  Accessories: Clear embossing powder, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, paper piercer, Flower Vines embossing folder, Real Red polka dot ribbon

I had so much fun making this card - it totally makes me smile.  :)  It's pretty basic - just a bit of embossing & some paper piecing...  I hope you will take some time to play along with us at the 4 Crafty Chicks ~ we have been so thrilled with all of the participants in our first month of challenges and we can't wait to visit your blogs and see what you create for us.  :)

See you later!
