You're Sew Nice...{JUGS229} & {RS102}

Hello everyone! Sorry I wasn't around to post for Tuesday's Colour Q - the kids and I decided to head off to my parents' place for the long weekend and I wasn't able to get a card done before I left.  I will admit it was kind of nice to have a week *off*, but now back to the grind.  :)

Today is my final day as the guest designer over at the Just Us Girls challenge...so sad!  I have thoroughly enjoyed playing along with the girls this month - they have been so sweet and supportive.  Thank you so much ladies!!!  This week's challenge is an inspiration challenge so take a peek at the photo inspiration:

For my card I used the colors as well as the sewing spools for inspiration.  I got to play with a new cutting plate I got awhile ago from Taylored Expressions - holy chevrons, Batman!!!  It's awesome!  I used last week's Retrosketches and came up with this *sorta* CAS card:

Thank you so much for visiting today - I love all the love.  :)  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and the upcoming last week of February!!  OY VEY!  How did that happen?  I'll see you back here on Tuesday with a brand-new Colour Q.  Later!

{HELLO} JUGS228 & RS101

Hi all! How are you doing this Valentine's Day weekend? The boys and I have gone on a road trip to visit my mom and dad - it's been quite awhile since we've been down there so it will be nice to relax and visit.

Today marks the third week of my stint over at the Just Us Girls Challenge blog and this week is my FAVORITE kind of challenge - a COLOR challenge.  And, to make it even better, you get to PICK which three colors you want to use!  Take a peek:

So I decided to use yellow, purple and lime green for my card - I combined it with last week's Retrosketches for this fun, CAS card to just say {hello}:

Those little sequins are so much fun to use - they give a project just that tiny bit of *sparkle*.

Thanks for stopping by today - enjoy your weekend!

Best Day {ever}... JUGS227 & FMS122 & CMCC6

Welcome back! I'm so glad you decided to pop by today - I've got a really cool (albeit DIFFICULT) technique to share with you for my second week as the Guest Designer over at the Just Us Girls Challenge blog.  The technique we are challenging you all to try is the Ink Bordered Die Cuts - the lovely Becca Feeken has an AWESOME video tutorial that explains how to do it PERFECTLY.

I will warn you - you MUST have wet, wet, WET ink pads for this technique to work properly.  I had my whole card planned out but soon discovered that all my pigment ink pads had DRIED UP!!!  The only ink pad I had that would work was my SU! Whisper White Craft Ink so, I had to rethink the WHOLE card.  I used this week's Colour Me! combo as well as the Freshly Made Sketches sketch:

It really is a cool technique that helps to give you a border around a die cut when you might not have the right size die for layering.

I hope you will have some time to play with us at JUGS this week - make sure you have LOTS of wipes handy because this is a MESSY one!  See you on Tuesday for a new Colour Q!!!

{MFT Guest Designer Sketch} & {CQC154}

Hey Crafty Peeps!!! Are you totally surprised? It's Friday and I've got a treat for you - a card I made JUST FOR FUN!!!  Can you believe that?  I seem to be so busy lately that I can't find those extra few minutes to sit and craft for fun.  So, yesterday morning (a blessed day off from work), I got the kids off to school, laundry in the machine, candles lit and I sat down at the computer to check out some of the blogs I {heart} but haven't read in awhile...my first stop was Splitcoast Stampers.  WOW!  I have obviously been living under a rock because I think this was the first time I realized they have a new look...it's wonderful!

I popped into the My Favorite Things forum to check out their weekly sketch challenge but got sidetracked and discovered that I missed out on the chance to become a Guest Designer (which my fabulous friend, Jenny Peterson won...)  The sketch for this challenge was a fun one so I thought I'd give it a go anyways.  I must admit those tilty-panels are NOT on my list of favorite sketch elements but I figured what would a challenge be without a "challenge?"

I haven't really bought many of the new MFT stamps but did have a fair few sets that I could definitely use.  When I came across this colour combo over at the Colour Q Challenge, I knew exactly which set I was going to use:

These colours make me think of fall and warm, homey fabrics - you know, like a big, old quilt - and remembered this little girl with her fun, patchwork-y hat and coat:

I used some felt for the hearts just to give it a big of texture and dimension and added a button and some old embroidery thread I had hanging around.  I've had this Sassafras Lass paper pad FOREVER and have never used it but was thrilled to see how it was for this card - the colours matched exactly AND it has little hearts all over it.  Kismet, I tell ya... I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black, heat embossed it, and then coloured it with my Copics (R11, R22, R43, R59, R89, Y17, Y32, YR23, YR31, E51, W00, W1, E27).

So, there you have it - my Friday For-Fun Card.  :)  Thanks for stopping by - I hope you have a fantastic weekend.  Enjoy the beautiful fall weather.... :)

Colour Q Guest Designer - Me!!

 Hey everyone!

As you read this, I am relaxing in Florida - lounging by the pool or maybe riding the rides at DisneyWorld - but only for a couple more days.  I will be back creating before you know it.  :)

Early last month, Arielle emailed me and asked if I would be interested in being a guest designer for her Colour Q Challenge - ummmm....YES!!!  Luckily she already had the colours picked out and I was able to get my card done before we left on our trip.  Don't these colors make you wish spring was already here?

I really didn't want to *think* to come up with the layout so I used Taylor's Sketch #97 from early January:

And...voila!

Recipe - Stamps: Thankful Accents (VervePaper: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Whisper White, Old Olive, Melon Mambo, SU! DP  Ink: Melon Mambo  Accessories: Corner rounder, Swiss Dots EF, Nestabilities (Labels 3), circle punches, paper piercer, Old Olive twill ribbon, buttons, gold cord

Do you LOVE it?  I have to say this card makes me smile - maybe it's the colors or maybe it's the sketch or maybe...well, I don't know!  I'm sure you are all tired of seeing me use Verve's Thankful Accents stamp set over and over and over and over again but it is SOOO versatile and the font makes any card look super-elegant.

I hope you are all enjoying your week - I will be back soon.  Until then, create something that makes you smile and then share it with others... maybe it will make them smile too.

Later chickas!
