A Fond Farewell to Sentimental Sundays...

Happy Sunday everyone!  Can you believe we are already at the end of May???  That means June is right around the corner and, with it, SUMMER...*I hope*  I'm finally finished work which means I can really concentrate on getting the new house ready to live in and this one packed up and *really* ready to sell.  Sadly, this has meant that I needed to give some things up while we are in this process and my Sentimental Sundays DT position had to be the unlucky victim.  I have had SOOOOO much fun working with this great group of ladies - they are an awesome bunch and all the newbies that have come aboard will feel like part of the family in no time.  :)  So, to Ann and the rest of the gals...THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.  :)

This week's Sentimental Sundays challenge is one that really made me step outside of my box..."Anything But a Card."  As many of you know, cards really are my *thing* but I do like a 3-D project every once in awhile.  One good thing about moving and packing up is *discovering* things you bought that haven't seen the light of day for...er....umm...years??  As I was going through one of my crafting supply cupboards, I found some 8x8 canvases that I had *good intentions* to use right away - *don't we all have those intentions???*  - so I pulled them out and thought about how I was going to use them for this project.

As I was out and about in Blogland a few days ago, I came across the most HILARIOUS blog - LollyChops.  If you haven't visited her before, do it NOW.  She made me laugh out loud so much in one post that my kids thought I was losing it!  She has some FANTASTIC projects and this post from last year inspired me to create this:

My jumping-off point, so to speak, was this tutorial by Julie over at Inkredible Stamping to make felt flowers.  I bought some burgundy and green felt (and some purple for another project) at our local fabric/quilting shop and got to work.  I dug out my Nesties and Cuttlebug and got busy cutting five each of three different sized circles.  I tacked them together with a few stitches and then glued them into the flower shape on a 1-3/4" circle. I started the layout of the canvas by hot gluing and wrapping twine around two sides of the canvas.  The hardest part was trying to find some patterned paper that would coordinate with the deep green and burgundy felt...I realized that I don't have much paper in either of these colors!  A few more embellies later and I was done.  What do you think?  I have another canvas the same size and now I want to make another one with a picture of my boys and then hinge them together for a nice tabletop display.  Maybe that will get done AFTER we move... ;)

Thanks for stopping by today - I always enjoy visitors.  Thanks again to Ann for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing Design Team... I had a great time!  Enjoy your week everyone!

Make Your Own Flower at Sentimental Sundays

Hello everyone!  I hope this finds you all enjoying your weekend and taking some time to relax a bit...maybe make a card or two?  If you find yourself in need of a fun challenge, why not join us over at Sentimental Sundays for this week's challenge - "Handmade Flowers."  You can use any technique to make your own flower but just don't forget to include a sentiment on your card!

For my card, I went to my old, familiar standbys....Verve.  Ahhhh...I just love it.  :)  I used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch and combined it with this month's Get Your Diva On challenge over in the Verve forum at Splitcoast.  This month's challenge is to use fabric on your card so I dug out some of the SU! fabric I bought before Christmas and got to work.

Stamps: Faithful Phrases, Galatians 6:9 (Verve)  Ink: Cherry Cobbler  Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Blushing Bride DSP  Accessories: Cherry Cobbler seam binding, Floral Circles Cut Above Die (Verve), twine, buttons, sponge dauber, Labels Seventeen Nestabilities, paper piercer, Sweetest Stem Embosslit

Here's a bit of a close up of the fabric flower:

I hope you will join us this week - there are so many ways to make your own flowers and I, for one, can't wait to pick up some new techniques from all you talented crafters out there!  Enjoy your week!

Sentimental Sundays on Monday...

UGH!  Sorry everyone!  AGAIN, I forgot to come back and finish my post and with Mother's Day yesterday, I wasn't on the computer at all...

OK - so this week at Sentimental Sundays the theme is "Anything Goes" as long as you have a sentiment on your card.  This should be week full of great submissions!

For my card, I combined the Week One sketch over at Viva la Verve and the most recent Color Cue combo:

Thanks for stopping by - the weather is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous here all week so you can bet I'll be out enjoying it!  See y'all later!

Spring Has Sprung at Sentimental Sundays

Oh my goodness!  I am SOOOOO sorry I forgot to post this yesterday.  I was so busy with the Verve release last week that I completely forgot to come back and schedule this post for yesterday!  I'm going to make it short and sweet for you all...

This week's challenge over at Sentimental Sundays is Easter/Spring - and don't forget your sentiment!  My card uses the Color Throwdown's color combination and Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch from last week.  And, yep, you also see another one of Verve's newest Plain Janes - Proverbs 31:28...isn't it gorgeous?

All the Verve-y goodness on this card makes me smile - the new Flower Circles and Elegant Leaves dies, the Flutterby die and the wonderful verse all work together perfectly.

Thanks for stopping by - enjoy the sun this week!

Treasured Memories at Sentimental Sundays

Hey everyone!  I hope this finds you all enjoying your wonderful spring day - it is sunny and clear here in Central Alberta and I am *itching* to get outside and play.  First things first, though, the SNOW has to melt away!  The roads are nice and dry so I was able to go for a nice, long jog/walk up to my PIC's house to visit her on Friday and that felt awfully good.  :)

This week's challenge at Sentimental Sundays is one that had me kind of stumped - "Treasured Memories."  I tried to think of some stamps that reminded me of when I was a kid or ones that had a vintage feel to them but I came up empty.  Then I thought I'd take a different view and so I created a sympathy card.  I figured that when someone passes away, everyone remembers the moments they shared with their loved one... that fits the theme, right?  It might be a bit of a stretch but it's all I could do and I had a Verve sentiment that fit perfectly.

I used the Utah Divas International Color Challenge #30 and the Viva la Verve April Week One sketch:

Thanks for stopping by today!  If you play along with us over at Sentimental Sundays, don't forget to use a sentiment on your card because we can't include you for our Top Three consideration if you don't!  Have a great week!

Let's Get Wet at Sentimental Sundays

Morning everyone!  I know I'm a bit late this week but we've just been busy and it really doesn't leave me much time for playing on the computer.  I can't wait until the renovations on the new place are done and I can really start packing and getting stuff moved over...the best will be when we are all moved in!

So, this week's challenge at Sentimental Sundays is "Let's Get Wet!"  However you interpret that theme, run with it but don't forget your sentiment!!!  For my card I decided to "go rogue" this week...no color challenge and no sketch to go from.  I just picked my stamp and got to work creating this:

I used some cork for sand and I think it  looks pretty neat, don't you?  I wish I had a cloud die or something to add to the sky but I had to settle for a big, yellow button for a sun and a  place to land my sentiment flag.   I hope you will join us over at Sentimental Sundays this week - there are so many ways to interpret this theme so have fun with it!!  Enjoy your Sunday!

Cute & Cuddly at Sentimental Sundays

Hi everyone!  Welcome back for another fun Sentimental Sundays' challenge!  This week's challenge is a theme challenge - "Cute & Cuddly" - so interpret that how you wish and run with it.  :)  I absolutely {heart} my Pure Innocence girlies and think they are some of the cutest stamps out there so that's what I decided to use for my card.

I went off in search of a color challenge and found this one over at Colour Q that would work PERFECTLY with my "My Umbrella" set:

This week's sponsor at Sentimental Sundays is Heart Song Designs and they have just started a weekly sketch challenge.  I had so much fun participating last week that I was THRILLED to get a sneak peek at this week's sketch and use it for my card:

Stamps: My Umbrella (MFT)  Ink: Concord Crush  Paper: Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Concord Crush, SU! DSP  Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Nesties, buttons, Bashful Blue satin ribbon, twine, paper piercer, Scallop edge border punch  Copics: Colorless blender, E00, E01, E25, E31, E33, E35, E37, E51, BG15, BG49, BV17, YG23, YG95, B000

Thanks for stopping by today!  The kids are off for Spring Break this week so I think I will be hanging out with them a lot... See you on Thursday for sure for a new 4 Crafty Chicks challenge - there's still time to enter this week's "Eyelets" challenge!

Sentimental Sundays Goes... Sentimental????

Morning everyone!

Sorry I am a bit late this morning - we have all been sick so being on the computer has not been at the top of my "to-do" list.  I will make this post short and sweet so I can crawl back to bed.

This week's Sentimental Sundays challenge is to focus on the sentiment.  That should be an easy one to do, right?  I combined this challenge with the Colour Q colors and the clean & simple stamping sketch.  This card is actually the second one I made because the first one (see below) didn't exactly *focus on the sentiment* so I made another one:

So here's the first card I made using the same Colour Q colors but I used the Viva la Verve Week Four sketch:

Thanks for popping by today - I will try to come and post the details for y'all later.  Enjoy your weekend!

Sentimental Sundays Goes Green!

Welcome back for another Sentimental Sundays' challenge.  This week's challenge is one that is very popular in Blogland these days - "Go Green!"  I suppose you could interpret that a couple of ways either to use the color green OR use something that is repurposed/recycled/reused...you decide!  But the most important rule - don't forget your sentiment!  We have had to disqualify some amazing entries from our winners list because they didn't use a sentiment...don't let that be YOU!

I have been really loving my Cat's Pajamas stamps lately (but need to buy some more because I'm sure you are tired of seeing the penguin and this whale...but they are soooo freakin' cute!)  Anyhoo, this week's TCP Tuesday challenge is a fun one: "We are challenging you to go back through our past TCP Tuesday Challenges and make a card using one of those past challenges."  Fun, right?  I have only recently discovered Alma and the gals so it was a lot of fun going back to see what I missed!  :)  When I got to TCP Tuesday #115 I found this AWESOME photo inspiration that I *had* to use because: #1 - The colors are PERFECT for the Sentimental Sundays challenge and #2 - We are in the process of renovating our kitchen and I have been scouring the web and magazines for backsplash ideas and have seen lots of tiles like these ones...delicious!

And then I thought...why stop at only one challenge?  Why not combine a couple more?  So, I went to TCP Tuesday #134 and found a sketch and then TCP Tuesday #118 asked us to use twine...easy peasy!!

Stamps: A Whale of a Time (TCP)  Paper: Whisper White, Garden Green, Cool Caribbean, Bermuda Bay, SU! DSP  Ink: Garden Green, Versafine Onyx Black  Accessories: Waves Cut-Ups Die (TCP), paper piercer, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, dimensionals, twine, buttons, striped grosgrain ribbon. Tab punch

Thanks for stopping by today - what do you have planned for the rest of your weekend?  Hopefully the weather is sunny and happy wherever you are.  Enjoy!

Pearls and Lace at Sentimental Sundays

Welcome back everyone!  I hope you have been enjoying your weekend - I sure have.  The weather still hasn't improved much but it's supposed to warm up by the end of the week so I am hopeful.  :)

This week's challenge over at Sentimental Sundays is one that kind of made me step out of my box a bit.  The challenge is to use Pearls and Lace on your creation...the pearls part I was OK with but the lace part???  Not so much.  OH - don't forget your sentiment!

I found a couple of new-to-me challenges that I could combine for my card.  The first one is from the Utah Divas International Challenge blog and this week's challenge is a color challenge...my favorite kind.  :)

I bought some new Copics a few months back from LSL Diversified and was extremely pleased with the service and the prices...and they are Canadian!  What I didn't know is that they also have a sketch challenge blog where the challenge runs for a whole month - that gives everyone a LOT of time to play along.  :)  Here's the sketch for March:

And my finished card:

Stamps: Because I Care (SU!)  Ink: Rich Razzleberry  Paper: Whisper White, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, Perfect Plum, Basic Grey  Accessories: 3D Flowers Die, adhesive pearls, Nesties, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Leafy Branch embossing folder, Beautiful Wings embosslit

I hope you will join us for this week's challenge and here's my personal challenge to you:  Try and find a new-to-you challenge this week.  There are so many challenges popping up out there and it's always fun to try something new. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and here's to a great week ahead.

Anything Goes at Sentimental Sundays!

Hi everyone - are you enjoying your weekend?  It has been a snowy, blowy weekend here so I've been hunkering down and enjoying not having to go anywhere.  I did manage to get some crafting done, though...  :)  This week's challenge over at Sentimental Sundays is one EVERYONE can participate in - "Anything Goes!"  Just make a card (or two) and don't forget your sentiment!!

I combined this challenge with the Play Date Cafe's color combo - a bright, springy one this week...I love it!

I also used the Stampin' Royalty sketch as my jumping off point but as my card evolved, it ended up being *slightly* different than the sketch:

Stamps: Ewe Complete Me (TCP)  Ink: Versafine Onyx Black  Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, various DSP scraps  Accessories: Buttons, sheer ribbon, scallop oval punch, oval punch, sewing machine, Seeing Spots embossing folder

As always, thanks for stopping by - it's always so much fun to read your comments and see where you're all visiting from.  I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend - see you tomorrow!
