Totally Stampalicious Goes Monochromatic

Are you ready for a challenge?  When I saw this week's challenge at Totally Stampalicious, I was a little bit scared.  I admit it ~ I like colors.  Lots of colors.  But blue isn't one of my favorites... not sure why but I will go to almost any other color before I go to blue if given the choice.  So, when asked to make a monochromatic, BLUE card, I paused.  But, not one to give up before getting started, I set to work.

I blog surfed for a bit and found a sketch that would fit my image perfectly over at Eat Sleep Stamp:

Recipe - Stamps: Let it Snow Stella (Totally Stampalicious)  Ink: Not Quite Navy  Paper: Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, SU! DSP  Accessories: Paper piercer, Nesties, Swiss Dots embossing folder, Bashful Blue satin ribbon, adhesive pearls, dimensionals, Copics

Thanks for stopping by this morning - have fun creating a monochromatic blue card.  Enjoy your Monday!

A "For Fun" Sunday Card

Hey there crafty peeps!  How's your weekend treating you?  Things here have been pretty quiet - did some baking and cleaning yesterday while DH and DS#1 were at a volleyball tournament and then got a *little* bit of extra sleep this morning...WOOHOO for the time change!  I have to make some cookies today but wanted to make a quick card before I do.

The Play Date Cafe's combination this week is so pretty - a final ode to summer... *sigh*

I decided to use Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery and Whisper White.  Off I went in search of a sketch and found the perfect one over at Just us Girls:

At first glance, my instinct was to interpret the sketch VERY literally and make a flower...but that's BORING, right?  *grin*  So, I dug out my Beautiful Wings embosslit and made it into a butterfly:

Recipe - Stamp: {Topiary} Little Paper Shop  Ink: Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery  Paper: Certainly Celery, Groovy Guava, Whisper White, SU! DSP  Accessories: Buttons, sewing machine, Leafy Braqnch embossing folder, Beautiful Wings embosslit, Beaded Ovals Nesties, dimensionals, Groovy Guava ribbon, sponge dauber

Thanks for stopping by this morning - I'm off to bake Chocolate Chip/Peanut Butter Chip cookies!  Yummy...see you tomorrow!

Sentimental Sundays' Meets the Colour Q!

Welcome back for another Sentimental Sundays' challenge.  This week's challenge is a sketch challenge created by our very own Dorcas:

Feel free to rotate it, flip it, or use a different shape...as long as we can see the basic sketch, you are good to go!  And don't forget to use a sentiment!  :)

I decided to combine this fabulous sketch with Arielle's Colour Q combination - there's that darned Cajun Craze again...

I just got some new goodies in the mail from Peg at Paperworks Co. and *had* to play with them.  I have been admiring these Rachelle Ann Miller stamps for a LONG time but haven't taken the plunge...until now:

Recipe - Stamps: Puddles of Fun (Paperworks Co.)  Ink: Cajun Craze, Versafine Onyx Black  Paper: Very Vanilla, Taken With Teal, Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, SU! DSP  Accessories: Copics, scallop circle punch, circle punches, clear embossing powder, buttons, twine, Cherry Cobbler seam binding (SU!), Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder

I hope you will play along with this fun sketch - it's a great one open to interpretation.  I can't wait to see what you all come up with!  See you tomorrow!

A Color Challenge at the 4 Crafty Chicks

Happy Thursday everyone!  Thanks for stopping by to see this week's installment of the 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge.  This week's challenge is brought to us by Leanne and she's chosen some fabulous colors for us all to play with:

So, we've got Riding Hood Red, River Rock, Old Olive, Pink Pirouette, and a neutral of your choice.  When I saw these colors I immediately remembered some Christmas DSP from a couple of years ago as well as my all-time favorite, Bella Rose DSP.  I dug through my scrap box and was lucky enough to find some pieces that would work.

Mercy's Tuesday Sketch had some great layers and a button with a bow so how could I *NOT* use it?

Of course, when all was said and done, I didn't even put a button and bow where the sketch suggested...go figure!  LOL

Recipe - Stamp: Many Merry Messages  Ink: Riding Hood Red  Paper: River Rock, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, SU! DSP  Accessories:  Sewing machine, Olive satin ribbon (Michael's), Star Tag Sizzlit (Sizzix), Swiss Dots EF, Square Lattice EF, Petals-a-Plenty EF, Kassie's Brocade EF, buttons, dimensionals

I hope you will take a few minutes to join our color challenge this week - last week we had 70 entries and it was so much fun to stop and see what you all created for us.  See you soon!  Enjoy the rest of your week!

Picture Perfect Creations #37

Welcome to November!!!  Wow - how did that happen?  That means there are only 54 more sleeps until Christmas!!  Are you ready yet?  I'm definitely NOT ready...in fact, not really even started!  :)  Well, that's not totally true - with my project today, I officially have *2* small presents ready to go.

So, this week's Picture Perfect Creations Color Combination was a really hard one for me - like, REALLY hard.  I was OK with three of the colors but put that darn Cajun Craze in the mix and I was STUMPED.  Stumped, I tell ya...

Not one to give up on a good challenge, I spent a couple hours (seriously...) going through my stamps and sketch blogs for inspiration with NADA... NA-DA.  I had a moment of panic trying to decide how I was going to get my project done this week.  But then, in a rare moment of genius (or something close to that...OK, maybe not *that* close...), I remembered a site I found while blog surfing awhile ago:  Kerry's Paper Crafts where she has an AMAZING and EASY video about how to make Hot Cocoa Sliders.  And when I say easy, I mean E-A-S-Y.  I had to make a few minor alterations to her measurements to accommodate the size of my hot chocolate packets but it wasn't difficult at all.

I started with a piece of cardstock 7-1/2" by 6".  I scored it at 3-1/2" from one end and then 1/2" from the opposite end.  I folded it up and used Sticky Tape along the flap to keep it all together.  I decorated the front a bit and then punched a hole in the top:

Now you put some ribbon through the holes and then tuck the hot chocolate packet down so that the ribbon is holding it up at the bottom...clear as mud?

Then when your recipient wants their hot chocolate, all they have to do is untie the bow and pull the ribbon up!

Recipe - Stamp: Yummy (SU!)  Ink: Cajun Craze  Paper: Basic Grey, Pear Pizzaz, Pretty in Pink, Olivia paper pad (Basic Grey), Whisper White  Accessories: Labels Four Nestabilities, Optic Dot border punch (MS), Pretty in Pink satin ribbon, Pear Pizzaz poly twill ribbon, sponge dauber, Crop-o-Dile

I hope you all have better luck with these colors than I did - it will be such fun to see what you crafty peeps come up with.  If you need some more inspiration, please make sure to stop and see what the rest of the PPC Creators created - their links are to the left.  Enjoy the first week of November!!

A Totally Stampalicious Monday!

Hello again!

It's been a LONG time since you've seen a Totally Stampalicious card from me on a Monday - MUCH too long and I apologize for that.  Joycelyn and Becky have released some pretty amazing Bugaboo Christmas sets so I thought I'd give you a peek of one of my faves: Christmas JJ.  This week's Totally Stampalicious challenge is to use a red bow somewhere on your card.

I have been admiring this week's Color Throwdown combination ever since Wednesday and it works perfectly for a Christmas card:

And Taylor's Sketch has a lovely, big bow so it was a match made in card-heaven:

Recipe - Stamps: Christmas JJ (Totally Stampalicious)  Paper: Riding Hood Red, Certainly Celery, Very Vanilla, SU! DSP  Ink: Riding Hood Red  Accessories: Riding Hood Red striped ribbon, Nesties, paper piercer, Copics, border punch (MS), button, twine, Modern Label punch, adhesive pearls, dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by - check back in a few hours for a new Picture Perfect Creations Color Combination!  See you then!
