Ready for a Recipe Challenge?

Hey everyone!  Thanks for stopping by for another 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge.  The weather here in Central Alberta has been unseasonably warm the last few weeks but next week's forecast is not looking very nice so I am enjoying the warmth while I can.  :)

I'm the hostess for this week's 4CCC and I've got a recipe challenge for you: 1 ribbon, 2 buttons and 3 layers.  Shouldn't be too difficult - we all love ribbon, buttons and layers, right?

This week's challenge over at There She Goes is paper piecing and, lucky for me, I was able to combine these two challenges.  I also used the CR84FN Color Challenge and a Clean & Simple Stamping sketch:

Stamps: World's Best, Warmest Wishes (TSG)  Paper: Picadilly (BG), Marina Mist, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie  Ink: So Saffron, Marina Mist  Accessorie-s: Sewing machine, buttons, Daffodil Delight satin ribbon, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Nesties, twine

Thanks for stopping by today - have fun with this challenge!  See you soon!

Recipe Challenge at There She Goes!

Welcome to the weekend everyone!  I have a quick card for you all today for this week's There She Goes challenge - create a card or project with the following recipe: A snowflake and a bird (it must have both images), and at least one kind of ribbon or a button.  Easy peasy, right?

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch and the color inspiration came from a new My Mind's Eye paper pad, 12 Days of Christmas:

Stamps: No Peeking (out of stock), BOL Holiday Additions (out of stock) - both TSG  Paper: Lucky Limeade, Riding Hood Red, Pool Party, Very Vanilla, 12 Days of Christmas (MME)  Ink: Versafine Onyx Black  Accessories: Embossing powder, Snowflakes embossing folder, paper piercer, Snowflakes die (Sizzix), button, twine, Copics

That's it for me - lots to do today!  Get ready for a fabulous week of sneak peeks for the TSG release next week - Jess has some FANTASTIC sets for you all this month.  :)  Later!

A Double Dose of Viva la Verve-aliciousness!

Happy Hump Day everyone!  How's your week been going so far?  Things here have been busy and the weather is getting progressively cooler...a definite chill in the air which can only mean one thing - the white stuff is inevitably on its way.  I'm not exactly looking forward to it but it makes everything look so pretty.  ;)

This morning I sat down to get a couple of cards done for this month's Viva la Verve Sketch challenge.  I had two left to do and wanted to get them out of the way before I forgot about them!  I LOVE the colors in this week's TCP Tuesday challenge (my favorite kind of challenge!) so I had to use them along with one of my new TCP sets, "Oh Chute!"  Isn't that bunny the cutest little thing you ever did see???  I must apologize to Maureen right now for totally missing the ribbon/bow part of her Week Three sketch - I took a few other liberties with the sketch as well...please forgive me, Moe?  I can send chocolate if that will help... ;)

Stamps: Oh Chute (TCP)  Ink: Early Espresso, Memento Tuxedo Black  Paper: Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Early Espresso, Whisper White, SU! DSP and Happy Days DSP (Echo Park) Accessories: Circus Panels Cut-Ups die, Circle Nesties, paper piercer, twine, button, Copics, Clouds border Cut-Ups die, Square Lattice embossing folder

Now for my second card - this one combines the Viva la Verve Week Five sketch with this week's Color Throwdown combo.  I've also used the There She Goes challenge "Au Naturale" to use twine, canvas, or some other "natural" material on your card.  Oh...yeah... I made a few adjustments to this sketch too... GOSH, can't I just leave a sketch alone?  LOL

Stamps: Follow Your Bliss (There She Goes), Graph Paper Plain Jane (Verve)  Ink: Old Olive  Paper: Miscellaneous DSP scraps, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Baja Breeze  Accessories: Loopy Blooms die, Rounded Scallop Frame die (Verve), World's Best die (tag, TSG), twine, button, sewing machine

So, there you have it - that's how I spent my Wednesday morning.  Now I guess I'd better get the *real* work done 'cause it won't do itself.  :)  Have a fabulous day everyone and don't forget about the new 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge tomorrow morning!  See you then!

Hi everyone!  I tried and tried and TRIED to post this yesterday but our internet went out so I had to wait until today.  There She Goes Clear Stamps is celebrating her third birthday and we've got fun planned all month long!  This is my VERY FIRST project for There She Goes and, like I said yesterday, the challenge this week is a bit on the challenging side - we need to make a paper doll and then photograph it in various places.

The only stamp set I have that would work was Zoo-pendous (which is currently out of stock but I'm sure will be back soon) and used the fun peacock for my image.  I stamped her (she looks like a her, right?) with my Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored her with my Copics...(which I had listed for you too but I forgot to save before I put them all away - am I cursed?)

I took her out into my yard, placed her on the fencepost alongside the leaf and cobwebs (the joys of country living)

Here's a closer pic taken indoors:

Thanks for stopping by today - I  hope you will try and find some time to join us this week...I heard there are even PRIZES up for grabs so make sure you stop by the TSG Blog for all of the details!  See you soon!

Some BIG News!!!

Hi everyone!  I am sooooo super-excited to let you all know that I have been asked to join the Design Team over at There She Goes as a Junior Trendsetter!  It was the weirdest thing and came at the best time.  Before we moved, I had given up the majority of my other DT duties to focus on packing etc. and told myself that when we got settled, I would start applying to DTs again.  Well, lo and behold, an email from Jessica Knutsen appeared in my inbox at JUST the right time asking if I'd be interested in joining her fabulous group of ladies?  I was totally shocked because I haven't played along with their challenges in a LONG time and I don't even own any of their stamps (not that I haven't *wanted* to buy some...)  Jessica has a great team already in place and the rest of the new Junior Trendsetters are equally as fabulous.  AND, my fellow Albertan, Jenny Peterson was also asked to be on the team - so excited!

This week's challenge over at the There She Goes blog is to make a paper doll and then photograph it in different environments throughout the week to be eligible for some fun prizes.  Now, don't panic (like I did...).  It's really not that difficult - HERE is a great link to give you a bit of inspiration.  I just received my stamps in the mail late last week so I haven't had a chance to play with them yet but I promise I'll have something for you to peek at soon!  In the meantime, please play along with the Trendsetters all month because we've got some birthday fun planned.  And don't forget about his month's release - - it is going to be PHENOMENAL!  Let me just say you will all die when you see how awesome it is!

That's it from me today.  See you tomorrow for a new 4 Crafty Chicks challenge!

Friends Are Like Flowers in the Garden of Life

Hey everyone!

Welcome back for another Picture Perfect Creations Color Combination and a new challenge from The Shabby Tea Room.  This week's colors from Megan include my {oh-so-favorite} Pacific Point. *insert eye roll here*  I'm trying to love it, really I am...

Our challenge at TSTR is to use roses somewhere in our project and our sponsor this week is Squigglefly.  They have some fab digital images and the sentiment I used on my card is one from their collection.

Squigglefly Digital Stamps

I love the simplicity of this week's sketch at There She Goes stamps:

Stamp: Digi sentiment from Squigglefly  Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Poppy Parade, SU! DSP  Accessories: Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, Whisper White organza ribbon, Nestabilities, paper piercer, Pretty Pin Embellishment

I FINALLY got to use the Pretty Pin Embellishment that I received a bit too late to use the week they were our sponsor at PPC.  It is sooooo pretty and matches the Poppy color perfectly.

Make sure you stop by and see what the rest of the Shabby Girls created for this week's challenge...

Debbie Marcinkiewicz - {TSTR Creator} - Simple Treasures

It's time for another NEW RELEASE from Totally Stampalicious and we are soooo EXCITED to share ANOTHER FOUR NEW BUGABOO Stamp Sets ~ Morning Margaret, Cafe Scarlette, Red Hat Stella and Sweet Birthday Kids!  If you hopped here from Laurie's blog, you are on the right track - if you didn't, you might want to start at the beginning and see ALL of the wonderful creations.  :)  The only thing that could make it even MORE FUN is to add some PRIZES to the mix!!  As usual, we will select THREE winners from THREE randomly selected DT blogs so be sure to comment on all of them to increase your chances to win!!

I decided to use the super-cute Sweet Birthday Kids for my card and combined a few challenges to create my card:

1.  Mercy's Tuesday Sketch
2. There She Goes Inspiration Challenge #63

3. TCP Tuesday #118 - Use twine on your project.
4. Practical Scrappers - Embossing somewhere on your card.  I used dry embossing for the top white panel and heat embossing on the main image.
5. Tuesday Throwdown - Show us some stitching on your project.

I LOVE the colors in the inspiration picture and knew they'd be perfect for a birthday card.  I made Mercy's sketch into a square card, added a sentiment to the bottom left corner and voila:

DSP  Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black  Accessories: Sizzix embossing folder (Tiger Stripes), Nestabilities, sewing machine, various punches, paper piercer, ribbon, button, twine, green brad, Copics, clear embossing powder

Two New-to-Me Challenges

How's your Thursday going so far?  I dropped Josh off at school and then went to the gym -  my wonderful trainer, Brett, had a new workout program ready for me and boy was it tough.  It will get easier each time I do it, right?  RIGHT?  :)

So for now, I am going to post the cards I finished last night but didn't have a chance to blog, and then I hope to fit another challenge or two in before I get settled in to watch Survivor tonight.  I was blog-surfing a couple of days ago and came across these two challenges:

  • There She Goes Clear Stamps has a weekly challenge and this week was a fun one: "One of the complaints that I hear most often from stampers is about how difficult it is to create a masculine card. My challenge for you this week is to create two identical cards using the same images but change the colors (this can include different DP) and embellishments so that one is a feminine card and the other more masculine."  I have to say I agree with this - I have a VERY difficult time making masculine cards.  I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that there are not very many *nice* male-themed stamp sets out there.
  • Stampin' Royalty also has a masculine-theme challenge this week - isn't that lucky??
  • Tuesday Morning Sketches features sketches designed by a fellow Melissa - Melissa Craig.  I really like this week's sketch.  It is very simple and symmetrical... :)

I dug through my scrap box and pulled out some papers that I could make work for both male/female.  I found some "To the Nines" DP and some leftover "Sending Love" SP and knew I could used Chocolate Chip for both cards.  I had to really search through my stamps for a set that could be used for both cards but I found Make Your Own Mug from The Little Paper Shop.  I altered the sketch a teeny-weeny bit by moving the center image to the left to accommodate the sentiment but other than that, I think these turned out OK - except for the fact I realized I need to reink my Chocolate Chip inkpad.

The masculine one:

And the feminine one:

This was a fun challenge since I don't make many masculine cards and I really like how this one turned out.  Thanks for stopping by this morning - enjoy the rest of your Thursday!
