SSSC-187

Welcome back! Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I know this is a crazy-busy time of the year for those of us with kids still in school and I know how precious time is.  This past week has been a devastating-weather week for those in Southern Alberta - major flooding and all that goes along with it - and my prayers go out to all those affected.

I know you are here to see this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch and this one has a LOT of layers...probably the most layered card I have made in a LONG time.  It was actually kind of fun and I got to use some new Stampin' Up! goodies to try out the chalkboard technique:

All of the fabulous Sweet Sunday Stampers have inspiration for you, so please stop by and say hello to:

BE Inspired #31 at The Alley Way Stamps

Are you ready to BE Inspired?   Over at The Alley Way Stamps, every two weeks, Alison gives us a photo to inspire our creations and this go 'round is a fun, bright picture that is sure to inspire many different interpretations:

As usual - since color challenges are my FAVORITE, I chose to go with the red and aqua colors from the cookies as my inspiration.  I think my aqua is a little more green than the color of the cookies is, but if you're OK with it, so am I.  ;)

The images are from Bot Time and the sentiment is a mash-up of words from Bot Time and KA-POW!  The sketch is from CAS(E) this Sketch:

Don't forget that Alison has freebies for you to use, just in case you don't have any TAWS yet.  Or better yet, just go and order some awesomeness...you will be glad you did. :)

See you on Sunday for a brand new Sweet Sunday Sketch!

4CCC-147 {Sentiment Only} & DD57 & FTL245

It's Thursday again and you all know what that means - a brand new 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge!  This week's challenge is being hosted by Tamie and she wants you to use ONLY a SENTIMENT on your card...nothing else.  Really make the sentiment the focus...I always love how these cards look.

For my card, I wanted to have a bit of fun with one of my Alley Way Stamps sets, Good Point.  All of the directional words are so cool and when you put them together, they are even better!  I combined the colors from Dynamic Duos and the sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping to make my card:

Isn't the arrow fun?  Normally, I make this kind of card open at the bottom but changed it up to make the sentiment work.  :)

I hope you will join us for this one - have fun!  If you need more inspiration, don't forget to stop in and see what the other Chicks created.  See you tomorrow!

Aloha! {CQC194 & RS68}

Hi everyone! Did you have an amazing weekend?  The weather here was kind of grey and gloomy but we made the best of it.  :)

I've got a quick card for you all today using one of the new Alley Way Stamps sets, Tropical Hideaway.  It's got some fun images and this surfboard is just one of them.  I combined today's new Colour Q combo with the Retrosketches sketch... a match made in heaven, I tell ya:

I thought the cork was a PERFECT addition to make it look like sand - whaddaya think?  I sure had fun making this one.  :)

Have a fabulous day and I'll catch you on Thursday with a new 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge!  Later, peeps!

4CCC-146 {Paper Pleating} & Merry Monday #66 & CQC193

Welcome back! It's been a crazy week around here and until school's over, it's only going to get crazier. Thankfully, I have a fabulous craft room I can retreat to when it's time for some "me" time. :)

This week, your hostess-extraordinaire over at the 4 Crafty Chicks' Challenge is none other than yours truly and I've thrown out a technique challenge - Paper Pleating.  It's not something I use very often on my cards but I sure love how it looks on a card.

I know what you're all going to say when you see my card...and I get it, really...I do.  But just think, if we all made just ONE Christmas card a week, we'd have 52 ready to go for the next year without the crazy "Oh-my-gosh-how-am-I-going-to-get-all-my-cards-done" mad scramble on November 1st...right?  You're welcome. :)

For my card, I used a lovely TAWS mini set, Holiday Sparkles, for the sentiment and combined this week's Merry Monday sketch with the Colour Q combo.  I know the CQ combo looks very tropical but try and tell me it doesn't work for a Christmas card too:

So there you have it - another Thursday, another 4CCC to play along with.  Are you going to join us?  I hope you will.  That's it for me - enjoy your Father's Day weekend!

{SSSC186} & {Dynamic Duos #56}

Hello again! It's time for a brand new Sweet Sunday Sketch and this week Karen's come up with a stunner - totally lovin' on the fishtail banner down the side:

It has been a LONG time since I've stamped with anything but my TAWS stamps so I thought I'd show some love to my Verve this morning.  I always seem to go back to this set, Words Of Wisdom, because the fonts are soooooo amazing and the sentiments fit whatever mood I'm in.  When I was stamping this one, I just felt one sentiment screaming out to me - so I used it:

I chose this one because it kind of fits where I'm at in my life right now.  I've got lots of dreams and goals but if I don't actually "LIVE" them, I'm not going to go anywhere - that's why I decided to emphasize the "live" part of the sentiment.  People - you've gotta LIVE your life, not just exist in it.  YOU can make your life whatever you dream it to be but if you're not LIVING it, you're not going to get very far.  It's taken me a long time to get to the place where I am an active participant in my life and accept that, gosh-darn-it, I AM worth it... and you are too!!!!  So get out there and start LIVING the life you've imagined - I promise it will be worth it.  :)

*stepping off my soapbox*

Alrighty then...the color combo is from the amazing challenge, Dynamic Duos:

And all of the fabulous Sweet Sunday Stampers have inspiration for you, so please stop by and say hello to:

BE Inspired #30 at The Alley Way Stamps

Hey all!  I hope you've had a fabulous week and are as ready as I am for the weekend.  I don't think we've got much planned - maybe some of the never-ending yard work but I hope the sun cooperates and I can spend some time relaxing on the deck instead.  Who *really* wants to do yard work anyways?

It's that time again - time for a brand new BE Inspired Challenge over at The Alley Way Stamps.  This week's photo is VERY vintage-inspired...

Don't you love it??  That ice cream looks soooooooo yummy!  And who doesn't love a little glass bottle of Dr. Pepper?  I decided to go with the colors and some zig-zags...

The arrow stamp is from Good Point and the sentiment from Tag-alongs.  I hope you'll play along with us - if you don't have any TAWS stamps yet (and, really, what are you waiting for?), Alison has some awesome freebies over at the TAWS blog so you have no excuses!

See you on Sunday for a new Sweet Sunday Sketch!
