Fabulous Friday - and a New Sketch Challenge!

Are you as glad as I am that it's Friday?  It's been another busy week here in central Alberta and the weekend is going to be just as busy.  I've got to take DS#3 to 4-H tomorrow and then on Sunday is our monthly stamp group get-together.  Lori had to cancel last month's meeting due to weather so we'll be working on last month's projects as well as this month's...should be FUN!

I enjoyed watching the Olympics and Survivor last night but was itching to create by the time I woke up this morning.  After dropping the kidlet at school, I came home, put some cinnamon-raisin bread in the bread machine and then sat down to scope out the challenge blogs.

Julie finally posted this week's The Play Date Cafe color challenge - I kept checking and checking and checking... I popped over again this morning and discovered the reason for the delay - I giggled a bit because it's something that would happen to ME!  Anyhoo, back to this week's colors:

I LOVE this picture and the colors together are AWESOME - and it's COFFEE, for heaven's sake!  How can it NOT be good???  I have used a LOT of Real Red lately so I thought I'd change it up a bit and dig out some of my well-hoarded Riding Hood Red.  I totally {heart} this color and wish it was a SU! regular.  *sniff*  I use it VERY sparingly...  :)

I wanted to do Taylor's sketch but she hadn't posted it yet so I clicked over to my friend Tamie's blog, Paper Infusions and More, to check out her list of challenge blogs.  I found the Makeup 4 the Weekend Challenge and figured I'd give it a try (even though it looked HARD and busy...)

The good thing?  I could use LOTS of layers!!  LOL  Yesterday's clean and simple challenge was a bit too much for me.  I was also able to incorporate Cute Card Thursday's challenge to use metal on our card somewhere.

I used Chocolate Chip CS for the brown and some Bazzill *linen* textured paper in a light beige color.  In the picture it sure looks pinkish but in real life, it's much more beige.  The image and sentiment are from a very cute set I picked up last week at my LSS, "Sweet Bird" - it only had these two stamps and they're from Prima.  I paper-pieced the bird and then ran it through the Cuttlebug in the Swiss Dots folder.  I paper pierced, border punched and ribbon tied and called it done.  :)

I will check to see if Taylor's sketch is posted yet - I want to give the Color Dare challenge another go.  I KNOW I can improve on yesterday's attempt.  Yes, there will be layers involved and yes, there will likely be ribbon and designer paper and...and...and...  *wink*

Enjoy your Friday!
