PPC #23 - Happy Birthday, Joycelyn!

Hey everyone!  I hope you are enjoying the summer - I cannot believe it is the end of July already!  Before I know it, the kids will be heading back to school...  :)  This week's color combo over at Picture Perfect Creations is a lovely, summery combo with a *hint* of elegance thrown in:

Over at Totally Stampalicious, we are celebrating Joycelyn's birthday - I won't say how old she is but I will say she is NOT over the hill yet.  :)  So, in honor of her "not over the hill yet" birthday, the challenge is to create a birthday card.  Easy peasy.  :)  I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers:

Recipe: Stamps - Cafe Scarlette (Totally Stampalicious)  Paper: Whisper White, Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight, SU! DSP  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Basic Grey  Accessories: Nestabilities, Happy Birthday embossing folder, paper piercer, basic grey corduroy brads, paper flowers, pewter adhesive pearls, Copics, sponge dauber, organza ribbon

I didn't really have room to put a sentiment so I used my "Happy Birthday" embossing folder to get the point across.  This new stamp set from Totally Stampalicious comes with some HILARIOUS sentiments.  It's another one of the Bugaboos they've turned into rubbah'.

If you 'd like to see more of these colors, hop over to see what the rest of the PPC Creators did:

Thanks for popping by - enjoy the sun!

As Easy As 1-2-3 in The Shabby Tea Room!

Welcome back for another fabulous challenge in The Shabby Tea Room! This week's challenge comes to us from Nicole and she has given us a recipe challenge: 1 ribbon, 2 buttons, and 3 punches.  Don't be afraid - it may sound difficult but it really isn't.  :)  Promise.

This week's sponsor in the Tea Room is one of my favorites, JustRite Stampers.  They have got some AMAZING stamps and I am totally lovin' their new clear stampers and the new Christmas sets are super-cute.  This week's winner will win a prize package filled with lots of JustRite goodies.

I decided to use JustRite's Groovy Snowman set and knew that this week's Color Throwdown combination would work PERFECTLY with a wintery-themed card.  I still don't have any Marina Mist so I had to find another color from my stash that would work:

Our fearless leader, Debbie, just became one of the Truly Scrumptious DT so when I saw that their sketch had the PERFECT shapes and layout for the STR challenge, I HAD to use it (but I *did* make it into a square because my image is so large...):
Here's how I incorporated the recipe:
  • 1 Ribbon - I used ribbon in more than one place but it is the same ribbon so I hope that counts...  :)
  • 2 Buttons - Bottom right corner...  :)
  • 3 Punches - This is the part I kind of *fudged* a bit... I used three different sizes of circle Nestabilities around my image.

Recipe - Stamps: Groovy Snowman (JustRite Stampers), Ornamental Christmas (Verve)  Paper: Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, unknown light blue, SU! DSP (retired)  Ink: Not Quite Navy, Memento Tuxedo Black  Accessories: Paper piercer, Nestabilities, Copics, Copic Spica glitter pens. Dots & Snowflakes embossing folder, buttons, hemp twine, Wild Wasabi stitched ribbon, Hodgepodge Hardware - Styled Silver

Curtain Call - Act 40

I want to start by saying that I ADORE this week's colors from Stacey at the Curtain Call Color Challenge!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!  They remind me of the beach and all things fun in summer:

Don't you think they're awesome?  I paired them with Julee's Mojo Monday sketch...(which, at first, scared me a bit, but once I got going on it, it came together lickety-split).  It really lent itself nicely to using this many colors:

Recipe - Stamps: Celebrating Life  Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, SU! DSP  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black  Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Nestabilities, paper piercer, paper flowers, hemp twine, Kiwi Kiss ribbon, button

...then play along with us and post your Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 40 creation using Mr. Linky over at Stacey's Stamping Stage.

From the Garden with TSTR and PPC

Welcome back for another fabulous week at The Shabby Tea Room and Picture Perfect Creations.  Awhile ago, I found this AMAZING wreath at Blooming Couture and HAD to use it as the inspiration photo for this week's TSTR challenge: "From the Garden."  Use the colors, flowers, the shapes... whatever inspires you.

This week's sponsor in the Tea Room is Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Stamps and you will LOVE their selection of amazing digi stamps as well as some clear stamps.

I originally thought I would use the colors in the wreath for my card but once I saw this week's Picture Perfect Creations combo, I decided to give it a try and see what I could do with them:

I will admit that the Cajun Craze threw me off a bit but, in the end, it was the Regal Rose that I had trouble with and used it very sparingly on the bows and as a button flower:

Recipe - Stamp: Precious Baby (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps)  Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze, SU! DSP  Accessories: Copics, paper piercer, RR polka dot grosgrain ribbon, buttons, Swiss Dots EF

Curtain Call - Act 39!

Well, folks... here we go again with another fabulous Curtain Call Color combo from Stacey.  I've been having internet issues this week so I have to make this post quick and to the point... not sure how long I'll stay connected!  This week's colors are so calm and soothing I had no problem making a quick card:

I used Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch - well, kind of since my card is a square and her sketch is a rectangle:

Recipe - Stamp: Psalm 84:11 (Verve Plain Jane)  Ink: Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery  Paper:  Accessories: Whisper White organza ribbon, buttons, hemp twine, Nestabilities, paper piercer, sponge dauber, adhesive pearls, square punches Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Kraft, SU! DSP

The Curtain Call Crew has more samples to show you today so make sure you stop by to see:

...then play along with us and post your Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 39 creation using Mr. Linky over at Stacey's Stamping Stage.

I hope you enjoy working with these colors as much as I did - can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Another Totally Stampalicious Release Blog Hop!!!

It's time for another NEW RELEASE from Totally Stampalicious and we are soooo EXCITED to share ANOTHER FOUR NEW BUGABOO Stamp Sets ~ Morning Margaret, Cafe Scarlette, Red Hat Stella and Sweet Birthday Kids!  If you hopped here from Laurie's blog, you are on the right track - if you didn't, you might want to start at the beginning and see ALL of the wonderful creations.  :)  The only thing that could make it even MORE FUN is to add some PRIZES to the mix!!  As usual, we will select THREE winners from THREE randomly selected DT blogs so be sure to comment on all of them to increase your chances to win!!

I decided to use the super-cute Sweet Birthday Kids for my card and combined a few challenges to create my card:

1.  Mercy's Tuesday Sketch
2. There She Goes Inspiration Challenge #63

3. TCP Tuesday #118 - Use twine on your project.
4. Practical Scrappers - Embossing somewhere on your card.  I used dry embossing for the top white panel and heat embossing on the main image.
5. Tuesday Throwdown - Show us some stitching on your project.

I LOVE the colors in the inspiration picture and knew they'd be perfect for a birthday card.  I made Mercy's sketch into a square card, added a sentiment to the bottom left corner and voila:

Recipe - Stamps: Sweet Birthday Kids (Totally Stampalicious)  Paper: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, SU! DSP  Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black  Accessories: Sizzix embossing folder (Tiger Stripes), Nestabilities, sewing machine, various punches, paper piercer, ribbon, button, twine, green brad, Copics, clear embossing powder

Totally Stampalicious - Pregnant JJ with a Splash of Red. . .

. . . but as you may be able to guess, my card has a *bit* more than a splash!  LOL  Red is one of my favorite colors and to ask me to just use a splash of it is like asking a kid not to eat the cookies!  :)  SO, this week's challenge over at Totally Stampalicious is to make a card with whatever colors you want but make sure there's a *splash* of red on your card.  Easy peasy, right??  Lucky for me, the challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges this week is to use black, white and red on your card so I was able to kill two birds with one stone!

Peggy's sketch challenge over at the Paperworks Co. blog is to make a circle card.  Again, sounds easy, right?  Let me tell you, not as easy as it sounds!

So, after figuring out how big of a card I could make, and then sizing and resizing my digi image, I came up with this:

Recipe - Stamps: Pregnant JJ (Totally Stampalicious)  Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Black, SU! DP  Accessories: Nesties, Hodgepodge Hardware, paper piercer, Copics, taffeta ribbon, button, silver cord

Have fun with this challenge - red is a fabulous color and you can make so many great color combinations with it!  Enjoy!

PPC #21 & SSSC #77

Hello again!

This week's challenge over at Picture Perfect Creations gives us three of the new SU! color renovation colors - and, sadly, I don't have any of them yet.  BUT - lucky for me - I have a SUPERFABULOUS friend who DOES have these colors and she gave me a sheet of each to work with.  I really only needed two of the colors since the Crumb Cake is very close to Kraft so I just used some of that...

Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge is a bit of a different shape this week - start with a 6.5" square piece of cardstock and fold it in half... that's your card base.  It didn't really leave me much room for a huge image so I decided to pull out my Elegant Trio Stencil Set from SU!'s Definitely Decorative line...

Recipe - Stamps: Celebrate You (Verve)  Paper: Kraft, Pretty in Pink, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Whisper White, SU! DSP (Tea Party)  Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Riding Hood Red  Accessories: Paper piercer, sponge dauber, Elegant Trio Stencil Set, Pretty in Pink striped grosgrain ribbon, buttons, EK Success border punch (Parisian)

I used a clear button on my bow so this card also qualifies for Sentimental Sundays' challenge to use a clear element on our creation.

I hope you give this week's color combo a try - don't worry if you don't have the exact colors!  Just use whatever you have on hand that is close and if you need some more inspiration, please visit the rest of the PPC Creators' blogs to see what they did:

Have a great Monday - see you soon!

Christmas in July at The Shabby Tea Room

Christmas?  In July?  I have to admit, the day I made this card the weather was a rainy, cold and windy and it sure felt like winter was just around the corner!  If you are one of "those" people that have already started your Christmas shopping, then this week's challenge will be right up your alley.  :)  The Shabby Tea Room challenge theme is "Christmas in July" and we'd like you to make a card or project with a holiday theme.

I wanted to ink up one of my Pure Innocence girlies that I hadn't been able to use yet and found a fabulous sketch from Julee and the gals over at Mojo Monday - it fit my image perfectly!

Recipe - Stamps: Presents for You (Pure Innocence, MFT)  Paper: Soft Suede, Real Red, Whisper White, SU! DSP  Ink: Soft Suede  Accessories: Hemp twine, paper piercer, Nestabilities, Copics, square punches, adhesie rhinestones, Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder

This week's sponsor in the TR is Frost it Pink and the lucky winner will receive a prize package filled with fabulous goodies so I hope you will join us!

Curtain Call Meets Mojo Monday!

What a week it's been!  I know I keep saying this over and over but between work and trying to keep on top of house *stuff*, I haven't had much time at all for creating ... and it's really starting to bug me!  LOL  I NEED my "me" time and it just seems like everything else has been taking priority lately.  *sigh*  Ok, enough of my whining - let's get to the reason you are here today!

Today Stacey has given us another FABULOUS combination over at the Curtain Call Color Challenge - I SOOO love the splash of pumpkin pie in this lovely bouquet:

I've been using Julee's Mojo Monday sketch all week and it is so fabulous that I have made two cards with it - the other one you will see tomorrow for the new Shabby Tea Room challenge:

Here's my take on the sketch using Stacey's awesome colors:

Recipe: Stamp - Hebrews 11:1 (Verve)  Ink: Regal Rose  Paper: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry Prints paper  Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Birds and Vines embossing folder, Nesties, hemp twine, felt flowers, button, Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon, paper piercer

I have to admit, I kind of copped out by using so much white (which should have been vanilla - but I realized it MUCH too late! OOPS) but when I tried to put more of the *colors* together, it ended up looking too gaudy.  I love how this turned out...  :)

The Curtain Call Crew has samples to show you today, too, so make sure you stop by to see:

Color Throwdown Celebrates 100 ~~ Holy Smokes!!!

WOW - it's hard to believe that the gals over at The Color Throwdown have been at this for almost 2 years of weekly challenges!!!  They manage to inspire us week after week - sometimes requiring *me* to step out of my box... WAYYYY out of my box!  LOL  I was so excited when I read that they were going to have a HUGE celebration to mark this milestone - can we say INCREDIBLE fun and prizes??  If you check out this post you will find the HUGE list of companies that have graciously donated prizes to help the CTD crew celebrate!

So, without further ado - here's the one hundredth color combination:

Don'tcha just LOVE those colors???  SO much fun!  I used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch:

Here ya' go. . .

I know it's REALLY hard to see the three strips behind the main image because the oval layers got so big and the square covers them up at the bottom but I PROMISE you that they are there!  LOL  I love this stamp set from Verve - one can never have too many Verves, right?  :)

I hope you will take some time to play with the girls at CTD and then check out their creations for this week - making a card and then leaving comments for the girls is the only way you're going to be able to qualify for those amazing prizes!  Have fun!
