An Inspiration Challenge at the 4 Crafty Chicks

Good Morning everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to all my crafty friends south of the border!  Eat a bit of turkey for me, would ya?  :)

Today's challenge over at the 4 Crafty Chicks is brought to us by the fabulous Lori and she has found this AMAZING picture for your inspiration:

I knew I was going to make a Christmas card and use a red, and green and a neutral (pretty predictable, eh?) so I went in search of a sketch and found this one over at Paper Sundaes that would fit the bill:

Thanks for stopping by today - if you have time, please stop and see what the other Chicks did with this inspiration challenge; their links are to the left.

Enjoy your day!

Are You Ready For 4 Crafty Chicks?

I'm SOOOOOOOO excited this morning!  Do you know why???  'Cause it's time for the very, very FIRST 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge!!!  My "peeps" and I have been thinking about starting our own challenge blog for awhile and we finally decided to just DO IT!  Leanne, Lori, Tamie and I are four friends who all enjoy all things papercrafty and LOVE challenges so it was a perfect fit for us to share that love with all of you.

Our challenges will be posted every Thursday morning with submissions due the following Tuesday at midnight MST. To be eligible, your card, scrapbook page, or 3D altered project must be linked directly back to your post, not just to your blog.  Don't have a blog but still want to participate?  No worries!  You are more than welcome to upload your card to an online gallery (ex. www.splitcoaststampers.com), and then use the url for your photo in your gallery as the link that you post in your comment.  If you upload to online galleries, please use keyword/tag 4CCC-1.

For our inaugural challenge, Leanne has created a FABULOUS sketch:

I found this lovely, FALL color combo from the Little Paper Shop Challenge and knew I could use an adorable Verve image that hasn't seen nearly enough ink.

Recipe - Stamp: Hello Pumpkin (Verve)  Ink: Onyx Black Versafine  Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Old Olive, Kraft, SU! DSP  Accessories: Martha Stewart Optic Dot border punch, paper piercer, clear embossing powder, hemp twine, buttons, Kraft taffeta ribbon, brad, tag die-cut, Victoria embossing folder

We'd love to have you join us for our very first challenge - each week's winner will win the much-coveted "Golden Egg" and will receive a badge to display proudly on their blog.  If you play along, make sure you link your creation back at the 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge.   We cannot WAIT to see what you all create for us - the more the merrier so make sure to spread the word!

Mojo Monday and Embellish Magazine Color Challenge

One more quick card from me today - I had a bit of time after I got home from work since my DS decided that he would take care of dinner... gotta love a helpful teenager.  :)

I have seen many people take part in the Embellish Magazine challenges before but have never participated.  These colors were PERFECT for some paper I've had FOREVAH' but haven't been {inspired} to use... until now.  In addition to using the inspiration colors, we also had to use birds somewhere on our card.

I used Julee's {as usual} fabulous Mojo Monday sketch but had to lower the top panel a bit in order for the card to look right so some of the bottom panel peeks through at the top:

Stamps: {Swirls}, {Tweet Wishes Lucy} Little Paper Shop  Ink: Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Kiwi Kiss  Paper: Whisper White, Purely Pomegranate, Brown Bazzill, Kiwi Kiss, imaginisce DSP, My Mind's Eye DSP  Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, adhesive pearls, paper piercer, sponge dauber, Nestabilities, Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon

Thanks for stopping by for a peek - I had fun making this one and FINALLY being able to use this funky Argyle pattern DSP. Have a great week!

Pile It On Meets the Pink Elephant

Hello crafty peeps!

I wish Mother Nature would decide what she's doing - the last 24 hours have given us wind, rain, snow and a *bit* of sunshine... I know it is the long weekend in Alberta and it's a given that the weather will likely not cooperate with those who like to go camping but GOLLY GOSH!

Lori and I were going to go for a nice leisurely walk yesterday afternoon but ten minutes into it, the wind started and by the time we got back to the car, the rain wasn't far behind and it was COLD.  SO, what's a girl to do?  Come home and craft, of course!  I finished this card last night but couldn't post it because *someone* (DS#2) left my camera on after he decided to take random pictures of my computer screen...what a goof!

I have had this inspiration picture from the Pile it On Challenge since Monday - the softness of the room is very soothing and I used the colors as my inspiration:

I found another Monday challenge - the time it's a sketch from The Pink Elephant - and got to work:

Recipe - Stamps: Baroque Motifs (SU!),  Rose (Little Paper Shop)  Ink: Chocolate Chip  Paper: Very Vanilla, Blush Blossom, Garden Green, Chocolate Chip, SU! DP  Accessories: Swiss Dots & Victoria embossing folders, adhesive pearls, flower punch, Very Vanilla satin ribbon, hodgepodge hardware, oval punch

I haven't used ANY of this Styled Vanilla HPH --- until now--- so this card also qualifies for the ABC Challenge of "U" - unused stash!

As much as I want the sun to come out, I am kind of hoping that it doesn't so I have an excuse to stay inside and craft instead of doing the yard work that is calling my name...*wink*  Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with a couple more new ones! See you then!

2 Sketches 4 You Meets the Little Paper Shop

Good Morning everyone!

I had a bit of time this morning before heading off to work so I thought I'd better get some crafting time in since this week is kinda busy with work and appointments and... I'm going to see Daughtry with some of my girlie-friends on Thursday night!!!!  OH my goodness!  I am soo soo excited!  We get to go to the city, do a bit of shopping, go out for dinner and then enjoy the concert - what could be better?

So, for this morning's crafting installment, I popped over to the Little Paper Shop blog and found this fun color challenge:

I went over to Laura and Kazan's 2 Sketches 4 You to see what they had for us this week.  It's been a LONG time since I've played with their sketch but as soon as I saw this one I knew what I could do:

All of those scallop-y layers at the bottom totally reminded me of dresses I wore when I was little - rows of ruffles and lace and ribbon.  (I know some of you are thinking...she wore dresses???  HA!)  So out came the sewing machine and the ribbon and. . .

Recipe - Stamps: Sunshiny Day (MFT), Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU!) Ink: Versafine Onyx Black  Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Taken With Tea, Wild Wasabi  Accessories: Buttons, twine, ribbon, Copics, Textile embossing folder, sewing machine, paper piercer

AGAIN - I had to flip the sketch to make it fit yet another Pure Innocence image - yes, I'm obsessed with these little girlies!  They are just too darn cute!

Thanks for stopping by - enjoy your Tuesday!

Mojo Monday - All You Need Is Love...

... and chocolate!  You can never have too much chocolate, right?  Those Cadbury Mini Eggs are going to be the death of me, I'm sure.  Every time I go to the grocery store they whisper to me...taunt me...and, more often than not, they end up coming home with me.  Anyone else have this particular weakness?  Come on, there's got to be one or two of you out there... :)

Today's Mojo Monday which means another fabulous sketch from Julee and the gals over at Verve.  This week's sketch, or should I say, sketches, come from Julee herself and give us the option to go round or square:

Julia and the gals over at The Little Paper Shop have a beautiful color challenge for us this week - totally makes me *feel* the sun...
I decided to go with the square option of the sketch and use Chocolate Chip, Kraft and So Saffron for my card:

Stamps: Love's Flower (Verve)  Ink: Chocolate Chip  Paper: So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, assorted SU! DP, Kraft  Accessories: Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, Nestabilities, paper piercer, adhesive pearls

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out The Shabby Tea Room's new challenge and Stacey's Curtain Call color challenge!  See you later!

Wednesday... WHEE!!!

Happy Hump Day!

I'm going to make this short and sweet - the craftin' mojo is flowing and I don't want it to to go anywhere!

I made my first card of the day for six different challenges:

  • The Pink Elephant: A spring card - what is more spring-y than swinging from a tree and feeling the wind blow through your hair?
  • Crafty Creations Challenge: "Spots and Dots" ... I've got LOTS of those!
  • Creative Card Crew: "Going Dotty"... :)
  • The Little Paper Shop: "Make Something Old, New Again. Take something you've had for a while and use it again like it's something you just got."  So I found some O-L-D Stampin' Up vellum that worked perfectly on my Cameo Coral layer - it had spots and everything!  It's my lucky day, I tell ya!
 And here you go:

Isn't she cute?  I totally love these little girls and can't wait to get some new ones.  :)  OK - I'm off to do the next one...I'm thinking it's going to be Arielle's Colour Q:

And I have Cameo Coral & Rich Razzleberry out already!  :)  See you soon!

Taking Another Stab at The Paper Flower...

Hi crafty peeps!

I had some time tonight to craft so I thought I'd find a sketch and color challenge where I could practice making those amazing paper flowers.  Julia and the girls have a lovely colour combination over at the Little Paper Shop blog this week:

I decided to use Taken With Teal, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White.  When I found this sketch over at Friday Sketchers, I knew it was the PERFECT match:

See that big flower in the bottom corner????  Yep, yep, yep....perfect.

The sentiment is from another Little Paper Shop set I have called {A Dream}.  The paper is all Stampin' Up and the Nestabilities are Labels One and Labels Six.  I used the SU! scallop punch for the flower and some miscellaneous paper flowers for the other two smaller ones.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for my Curtain Call card and then again on Monday for The Shabby Tea Room's inaugural challenge and my sample card - I'm so excited to see how many of you join us next week.  Rumour has it that Debbie has lined up some amazing guest designers for the first couple of weeks - I can't wait to see who!!

See you later!

Saturday Morning Three-'fer

Hey Everyone!

For the first time in a LONG time, I was able to sleep in until nearly 10:30 this morning!  It was SOOO heavenly... *sigh*  After I got out of bed, I did some tidying in the kitchen, threw some bread in the bread machine and then sat down to peruse the blogs.

Yet another color combo has been sitting on my desktop since the beginning of the week and when I found that Crazy 4 Challenges' challenge was to make a masculine card, I knew I could finally use Samantha's Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo:

I also used Papertake Weekly's sketch (but I flipped it 90 degrees...):

I dug through my stamps and found one from the Little Paper Shop that I had NEVER inked up and thought it would be perfect for a masculine card.  The sentiment is from LPS too:

This is one of my more plain (aka BORING) cards but I know it has to be for a man... only the chosen *few* appreciate buttons, bows and pearls.  *wink*

I just put supper in the oven so hopefully I'll have time to make another card.   Thanks for stopping by - enjoy the rest of your afternoon!

P.S.  Don't forget about the new Curtain Call tomorrow, The Shabby Tea Room on Monday and Megan's search for DT members over at the Picture Perfect Creations Color Challenge.

Colour Q, Little Paper Shop & A Teaser...

What a busy day today was!  I spent the morning cleaning my kitchen, *helping* DH with the basement renos and then running to Sylvan Lake to meet my MIL for lunch so she could buy some of my cards for a ladies' retreat she has coming up this weekend - she bought 45 of my cards!  So now I have LOTS more room for new ones!  I got started when I got home from the gym after supper...

It's Tuesday so that means Arielle's Colour Q is new today:

Then I popped over to The Little Paper Shop blog to find a sketch I could use:

I inked up yet *another* new Pure Innocence stamp to create...

Isn't she cute?  I admit I didn't use very much Sahara Sand but it *is* there... *giggle*  I love her yellow rubber boots...didn't we all have a pair of those when we were kids?

I am off to bed but before I sign off, I want you all to know that I have been asked to be part of *another* fun and creative challenge blog launching soon!!  I'm so excited!  I'm still not over the shock from being asked to join Stacey's Curtain Call Crew.  How quickly things change...

Stay tuned for more details on this exciting new project!  Night all!

Friends

I'm back with card #2 - then I guess I'd better think about supper and maybe do some laundry or housework???  I told you earlier that I was going to use Sketch Saturday's sketch today so here it is (another square card):

It has been A LONG time since I've been over to Julia's Little Paper Shop Challenge blog and was very pleased to find a color challenge waiting for me:

LOVE IT! I found a LPS set that had never seen ink and got to work - - - this was FUN!

Recipe - Stamps: Forest Critters (Little Paper Shop), unknown sentiment  Paper: Various SU! DP, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Kraft, Very Vanilla  Ink: Chocolate Chip, Onyx Black Versafine Ink  Accessories: Argyle embossing folder, Copics, sponge daubers, Nestabilities, paper piercer, tage punches, felyt ribbon, button, twine, pop-ups

I was able to use Crafty Creations' Challenge from this week which was to "CUT it OUT and POP it UP."  The sentiment tag and the owl are both popped up and I paper pieced the tree.

Well, that'll be it for me for this afternoon.  I will be hunkering down in front of the TV pretty soon to watch Kevin Martin go for curling gold - GO CANADA!  We'll see what I have time for this evening - have a great night everyone!
