A Monday Afternoon Three-'fer

Welcome back everyone!  I've got a quick card for you this afternoon since I had a few minutes to play between loads of laundry and picking up the kids from school.  I was able to combine three challenges for this card:

#1 - The Play Date Cafe: I love, love, LOVE this combination.  It is sooooo {au naturel} and calming.  I decided to use Kraft for the brown and Basic Grey for the grey and used silver embossing powder and silver cord to tie it all together:

#2 - 2 Sketches 4 You: This week's sketch is from Kazan - I decided to go against the grain a bit and make a full card instead of just a tag like the rest of the design team did:

#3 - Just Us Girls:  This week's challenge is to add a 3-D holiday embellishment to our project and I {think} my card works since I used a snowflake and popped up my Christmas tag...
Stamps: Holiday Print background stamp, Doves and Holly (Flourishes)  Ink: Versamark, Basic Grey  Paper: Kraft, Basic Grey, Whisper White  Accessories: Silver embossing powder, heat tool, Kraft tag die cut, paper snowflake, silver snowflake brad, silver cord, Kraft taffeta ribbon, Basic Grey sating ribbon, Snowflakes embossing folder, Smooch spritz (clear)

Okie dokie - time to start thinking about supper!  Thanks for stoppin' by... enjoy the rest of your day!

PPC Meets Pals Paper Arts

Good Monday morning everyone!  Have all of my American friends recovered from the Thanksgiving turkey and Black Friday hangover?  I hope you all enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.  :)

This week's Picture Perfect Creations Color Combination is one that screamed "BOY CARD" and since our very own Megan is enjoying some time at home with her new little bundle of boy-joy I thought I would make a baby card in honor of the new baby's arrival. (Well, at least we *think* she has had the baby since none of us have heard from her for over a week now... :)

I know I just used the Pals Paper Arts sketch for my card yesterday but I loved it so much I had to use it again:

Stamps: Nursery Necessities (SU!)  Ink: Versamark, Not Quite Navy, Poppy Parade, Soft Sky  Paper: Poppy Parade, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Kraft, Daffodil Delight, SU! DSP  Accessories: Nesties, Waves Die (TCP), Poppy Parade ribbon, buttons, baker's twine, Square Lattice embossing folder, paper piercer, square punch, dimensionals, sponge dauber, clear embossing powder, heat tool

I hope you will take some time to join us at PPC - we love it when you do.  If you need more inspiration, please pop over to the DT's blogs - they always amaze me with their creativity.  Enjoy your Monday -see you again soon!

A Recipe Challenge at Sentimental Sundays!

Welcome to another Sentimental Sunday!  This week's challenge is a recipe challenge - use 3 DSPs, 3 buttons and ribbon - and don't forget your sentiment!

I decided to combine Arielle's Colour Q challenge and the Pals Paper Arts sketch for my card this week:

Don't you LOVE this combo?  It's a warm and fuzzy kind of combination, isn't it?

I hope you will take some time this week to play with us - I know that the holiday season can eat into our *free* time, but we'd love it if you could share your creativity with us.

Thanks for stopping in this morning - enjoy the rest of your weekend!

An Inspiration Challenge at the 4 Crafty Chicks

Good Morning everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to all my crafty friends south of the border!  Eat a bit of turkey for me, would ya?  :)

Today's challenge over at the 4 Crafty Chicks is brought to us by the fabulous Lori and she has found this AMAZING picture for your inspiration:

I knew I was going to make a Christmas card and use a red, and green and a neutral (pretty predictable, eh?) so I went in search of a sketch and found this one over at Paper Sundaes that would fit the bill:

Thanks for stopping by today - if you have time, please stop and see what the other Chicks did with this inspiration challenge; their links are to the left.

Enjoy your day!

With Gratitude at the Color Dare

Welcome back, crafty peeps!  We've got a really lovely combination from Riley this week at the Color Dare: Cajun Craze, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, and Pumpkin Pie.  I was a bit stumped at first but the colors really *do* look pretty together (and there`s no Pacific Point to contend with...*wink*)

I haven't played with Julee's Mojo Monday sketch for awhile so I popped over to see what Julee had up her sleeve this week and found something I could definitely work with (even if the wonky panel is a huge *challenge* for straight and square me...):

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral (SU!), Thankful Accents (Verve)  Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Baja Breeze  Paper: Whisper White, Cajun Craze, Wild Wasabi, Baja Breeze  Accessories: Wild Wasabi striped ribbon, buttons, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Twizzle embossing folder, MS border punch, Oval Nesties

Thanks for stopping by - have fun with this color combination!  I know it is getting busier and busier for everyone with the holidays quickly approaching so please know we really appreciate and love it when you play along with us.  See you tomorrow for a brand new 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge!

A Play Date Cafe & Sweet Sunday Tuesday

Hello, hello everyone!  Are you staying warm wherever you are?  It is absolutely FREEZIN' here...and I'm not exaggerating. I woke up this morning and it was -34*C (that's -29*F for all you south of the border) and that was {without} the wind chill!  Needless to say, with cold temperatures come some very interesting challenges - how about frozen water?  Yep, living out in the country has it's perks but frozen water is NOT one of them.  Thankfully, my dear husband was able to defrost it before he went to work - thanks dear!

So, after spending the morning at work I came home and sat down to craft.  I finished one of my DT cards and had a few minutes before supper so I thought I'd try to get a couple more challenges done.  I haven't been able to play with the Play Date Cafe for a couple of weeks and this week they are celebrating Player Appreciation Week and there are PRIZES up for grabs!  Who doesn't love a prize of two?  Here's the lovely combination:

Another challenge I love to play with is Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch and this week's is fabulous - I changed my card into a square... I do love me a square card:

Stamps: Thankful Accents, Birthday Wishes freebie (Verve)  Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Taken With Teal, Old Olive, Basic Grey DSP  Ink: Taken With Teal, Real Red, Old Olive  Accessories: Nesties (Circles and Scalloped Circles), Real Red polka dot grosgrain ribbon, adhesive pearls, Paisley embossing folder, button, baker's twine, paper piercer, dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you can stay warm wherever you are.  And if you feel like sharing some sunshine, please send it to Central Alberta!  {smile}  See you tomorrow for a brand new Color Dare!

*sigh* Here it is again...

... yep.   Another card with Pacific Point.  Megan's newest combination over at Picture Perfect Creations is a doozy:

How'd you like them apples?  I have such a creative mental block when I see this color, it takes me forever to figure out what I am going to do.  I figured that the simpler I kept it, the better so when I found this sketch over at Eat, Sleep, Stamp I knew it was perfect:

I found one of my new Whiff of Joy stamps and colored my heart out:

Stamps: Wee and reindeer (WOJ), Poinsettia Christmas (Verve)  Ink: Real Red  Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Real Red, SU! DSP  Accessories: Real Red polka dot ribbon, adhesive pearls, paper piercer, Pacific Point corduroy button, baker's twine, Copics, Labels Four Nestabilities, sponge dauber

Thanks for stopping by today - please take a few minutes to check out what the rest of the PPC Creators made with these colors...I'm sure they are not as *against* Pacific Point as I am!!  LOL  I'll be back on Wednesday with a brand new Color Dare!  See you then!

Sentimental Sundays Meets the Colour Q

Hello to everyone on this cold, wintry, November Sunday!  It is absolutely freezin' here in Alberta and that can only mean one thing...lots of time spent inside crafting and baking!  That's one of my favorite things to do in the winter - baking cookies and cakes and breads (sometimes I let my bread machine share my fun) - it makes me smile just thinking about it.  :)

So, today I've got a card for this week's Sentimental Sundays' challenge of "Thanks or Thanksgiving", with a sentiment, of course.  This week my friends south of the border are celebrating Thanksgiving which makes this a perfect theme.  I found Arielle's colour Q and fell in love with the combination.  I also want to say thanks to Arielle and her Royal Court for the colourQ Courtier recognition for my submission last week. :)

I've been drawn to these clean and simple sketches lately - must be a result of my lack of time available for crafting - and this one from the Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge fit the bill:

Stamps: Thankful Accents (Verve), Vintage Labels (SU!)  Paper: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, More Mustard, SU! DSP  Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie  Accessories: Circle Punch, 3D Flowers die (Sizzix), Rich Razzleberry grosgrain ribbon, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Divine Swirls embossing folder

I love these little rolled flowers (the die also has a bigger flower on it) and can see myself using it a LOT!

Thanks for stopping by today - I'll be enjoying an afternoon of crafting with my monthly stamp group.  Please stop and share some love with the rest of the Sentimental Sundays Design team - they are one talented group of ladies!  See you tomorrow for a brand new Picture Perfect Creations Color Challenge - you're gonna {love} it...*wink*

Anything But A Card at the 4 Crafty Chicks

Happy Thursday everyone!  I hope you are having a great week wherever you are.  It's finally feeling like winter here in Central Alberta - the snow started falling on Tuesday and I will admit, it *does* look pretty.  :)

This week's challenge at the 4 Crafty Chicks is brought to us by Tamie and she is challenging us all to create "Anything BUT a Card!"  When I first sat down to work on this challenge, I thought I would pop over to Splitcoast and check out their 3-D projects for something I hadn't tried before.  But once I got there I couldn't find anything that got me excited.  I went into my cupboard and found an unaltered paint can, some lunch tins, some ceramic tiles and some glass ornaments - I could use one of those, right?  Well, I *could* but it seemed like too much work at the time!  LOL  But, lo and behold, in my cupboard I also found a bag of Stampin' Up! Decor Elements that I hadn't used yet.  Hmmmm...  Those are pretty quick and easy... it might just work...

I found the Thoughts and Prayers Tree and a quote that I thought would work together and set off to work.  I wanted to use them on a picture frame like I did a couple of years ago but I didn't have any empty frames left.  What to do??  Well, I was kind of getting tired of this picture in this frame soooooo... I recycled it!  LOL

Remember when I said I wanted something that wasn't too much work?  Well, this wasn't it.  It *would* have been but I had a few mishaps along the way; first, I broke the glass on the first frame.  Thankfully I had an identical frame in the kitchen I could snag the glass from.  Then it took FOREVER to get the DE to transfer completely from the non-sticky to sticky side of the paper... those little leaves were being persnickety!  In the end, I absolutely LOVE how it turned out:

Supplies: Thoughts and Prayers Tree (small Chocolate), Direction of Your Dreams (small Chocolate)  Paper: Deck The Halls DSP

A close-up of the tree - I love the shadows and dimension of having the Decor Elements on the outside of the glass:

This project also fits in with this week's challenge over at Creative Inspirations to use trees on our project as well as Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge to alter something.

I know that the rest of the Crafty Chicks did some pretty amazing 3-D projects so make sure you stop by their blogs and leave them some love!  I can't wait to see what you all come up with - maybe you can get some Christmas presents done??  Have fun!

UGH... {I mean...} YAY!!! Pacific Point at the Color Dare

Welcome back everyone!  Are you all laughing at me?  I would be if I were you... why, oh WHY do people have to pick Pacific Point in color challenges?  *sigh*  I have tried MANY times to embrace this color but I just {can't}.  I do the best I can with it but never really {love} any of the results...

SO - this week's combination over at The Color Dare is Pacific Point, Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo... {what?}  I sat and sat and sat and sat.  I had no clue where to start.  I found this sketch over at Card Patterns and got to work:

I have been dying to use this new stamp and thought I might be able to make the colors work for a {Christmas} card...???

Stamps: Many Merry Messages (SU!), Christmas Usher (Penny Black)  Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo  Ink: Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Versamark  Accessories: Blushing Bride poly-twill ribbon, chipboard snowflakes, Copics, glitter, Heat & Stick powder, paper piercer, corner punch (Martha Stewart), adhesive pearls, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder

I hope you will take the challenge and play with us this week at the Color Dare.  If you need more inspiration (and, quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if you did...), make sure you stop in at each of the DT's blogs and leave them some love.  Thanks for stopping by - see you tomorrow for a new 4 Crafty Chicks challenge!

A Sketch Challenge at PPC!!!

A {what}?  A sketch challenge at Picture Perfect Creations?  I know that Megan has always given us a color combo but beginning this month, every third Monday will be a "surprise" challenge... you never know what will pop up.  :)  And this month, it's a sketch - a lovely one too:

This week's Color Throwdown is absolutely GORGEOUS so I couldn't think of a better combo to put together with Megan's sketch:

Stamps: Many Merry Messages (SU!) Ink: Cherry Cobbler  Paper: SU! DSP, Kraft, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler  Accessories: Snowflakes embossing folder, Beaded Ovals Nesties, Ovals Nesties, adhesive pearls, Cherry Cobbler seam binding, button, twine, sewing machine

Thanks for stopping by this Monday - make sure to stop and see what the rest of the PPC girls did with Megan's sketch.  The weather this week is supposed to be yucky around here so I may be spending a fair bit of time inside... darn.  *wink*  See you later!
