Easter Blessings

 Helloooooo all!

What a day this has been... who wouldn't love watching the Canadian men win hockey gold and then watching an AMAZING closing ceremonies while crafting a card or two?  Gotta love Sunday night.  :)

I have been looking at the Color Throwdown's color combination since last week and finally had the chance to use it tonight.
I popped over to Jen's Sketch For You To Try and found this beautiful sketch:

It always amazes me how she (and many other sketch creators) come up with these wonderfully creative sketches week after week...

Anyhoo - I dug out some paper and my inked up one of my NEW Pure Innocence stamps (these little girlies are super-duper cute!) and created this:

I know the image is a LOT larger than the sketch suggested but I *had* to use her...she was calling to me... *wink*

'Kay, I'm outta here for the night.  Tomorrow's Mojo Monday so I'm sure I'll have something to share with you then.  Enjoy your night everyone!

I've Been Keeping a Secret...

... and it's been KILLING me to not tell you all!!  Some of you may have already noticed the new section of my sidebar displaying the Curtain Call Crew...'Why?' you may ask...  Because Stacey invited *ME* to join her and the other talented ladies as a member of her Curtain Call Challenge Design Team!  I am so super-excited about this opportunity and we are going to have so much fun!!  My first contribution as a Curtain Call Crew member will be next week so for this week, I came up with a lovely wedding card.

The colors are so soft but that splash of Razzleberry really gives it some punch.  I clicked over to Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch and found a sketch shape I don't think I've ever seen before:

Interesting, right?  I immediately thought it was a nice size for a money card and the colors reminded me of a wedding so I made a "newlywed" card:

Recipe - Stamps: Accent Notes (Verve), Teeny Tiny Wishes  Ink: Rich Razzleberry  Paper: Pink Pirouette, Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla  Acessories: Adhesive pearls, paper flowers, rhinestone brad, grosgrain ribbon, paper piercer

Thanks for stopping by tonight - see ya later!  Click over to Stacey's Curtain Call Challenge if you want to show us what you've got...it's so much fun!

Friends

I'm back with card #2 - then I guess I'd better think about supper and maybe do some laundry or housework???  I told you earlier that I was going to use Sketch Saturday's sketch today so here it is (another square card):

It has been A LONG time since I've been over to Julia's Little Paper Shop Challenge blog and was very pleased to find a color challenge waiting for me:

LOVE IT! I found a LPS set that had never seen ink and got to work - - - this was FUN!

Recipe - Stamps: Forest Critters (Little Paper Shop), unknown sentiment  Paper: Various SU! DP, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Kraft, Very Vanilla  Ink: Chocolate Chip, Onyx Black Versafine Ink  Accessories: Argyle embossing folder, Copics, sponge daubers, Nestabilities, paper piercer, tage punches, felyt ribbon, button, twine, pop-ups

I was able to use Crafty Creations' Challenge from this week which was to "CUT it OUT and POP it UP."  The sentiment tag and the owl are both popped up and I paper pieced the tree.

Well, that'll be it for me for this afternoon.  I will be hunkering down in front of the TV pretty soon to watch Kevin Martin go for curling gold - GO CANADA!  We'll see what I have time for this evening - have a great night everyone!

Super Saturday

Good morning, crafty chicks!
I have had an awesome morning so far and it's only 11 AM!  I woke up this morning WAYYYY too early for a weekend and figured I could take a few quiet minutes at the computer to *plan* my day around the challenges.  I sat down, clicked over to Sketch Saturday to see what they have for us (I'll use their sketch later today) and discovered that I had won their goodies from last week!  How cool is that?  Wanna see what I won???

I am so SUPER EXCITED!!!   I LOVE that Kraftin' Kimmie stamp and those bunnies are going to made cute Easter cards.  Let me tell you, that sure got my mojo flowing this morning.

I've been wanting to to the Play Date Cafe's new color challenge for a couple of days but haven't had much time so I thought I'd tackle it first.  I love the colors inspired by the photo: black, white and a splash of teal...

They said we could use any shade of teal we wanted so I went to my drawer and pulled out some Cool Caribbean from a few years ago.  I had been over to been over to the Makeup 4 the Weekend Challenge earlier this morning and saw their inspiration picture for their challenge and I knew I could combine this challenge with the Play Date cafe challenge.

I decided to use the butterflies in the picture as my inspiration for the image I chose to use.  I popped over to Friday Sketchers to see what I missed yesterday and discovered:

Another square card. . . I'm starting to like square cards. . .

Recipe - Stamps: Butterflies (Little Paper ShopPaper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Cool Caribbean, Night & Day Specialty Paper  Ink: Onyx Black Versafine  Accessories: Swiss Dots EF, Nestabilities, white & black ribbon, adhesive pearls, clear embossing powder, scallop edge punch, paper piercer, copic marker, button, silver cord

OH YEAH - another super awesome thing I figured out this morning????  I made my OWN WATERMARK - - all by myself!  For some of you out there this probably isn't a big deal but it's huge for me.  I would *really* like to include a dragonfly somewhere on it but for now, text is just fine!  LOL

Enjoy your Saturday!

You're An Angel...

Happy Friday everyone!

First of all, I want to thank the crew over at The Play Date Cafe for choosing MY card as their "Cup of the Week" for last week's challenge!!  I am super-excited and feel honored to be recognized for my card.  It gives me warm fuzzies knowing that my fellow crafters appreciate my work - although I'd keep doing it even if they didn't!  LOL

I've been awfully busy the last couple of days and haven't had any time to sit and create until after lunch today.  I've had the cardstock sitting on my counter since Wednesday night...calling to me..." I was over at Lori's yesterday and then Sam had a Reach tournament in town afterschool so I was the lucky parent who got to go and watch him and his team win all five of their games - YAY them!  I spent this morning at my new, part-time job down at our little country store so when I got home at one, I *had* to take some "me" time.

I used Delightful Sketches and Challenges sketch and Picture Perfect Creations' color challenge:

I really like this color combo and wanted to use one of my Stamping Bella stamps that hadn't seen ink for awhile.  I  found Peony Bittybloom and knew she'd be perfect.

Recipe - Stamps: Peony Bittybloom (Stamping Bella), Celebrating You (Verve)  Ink: Onyx Black Versafine, Soft Suede, Copics  Paper: DP paper pad, Kraft, Bashful Blue, Soft Suede, Old Olive  Accessories: Nestabilities. paper piercer, paper flowers, rhinestone brad, adhesive pearls, oval and circle punches, Old Olive twill ribbon, Swiss Dots EF

Well, that's likely going to be it for me tonight.  I *may* have some time when I get home from the gym but that's only if I don't need toothpicks to keep my eyes open!  Maybe I can get the card done before I go the gym and then I only have to post it... we'll see.

Thanks for stopping by - enjoy your Friday!

Take Three!

Here we go - another fairly simple (for me) card that took MUCH longer than it should have!  LOL  I used the Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge colors and The Pink Elephant's sketch:

And the final result:

Recipe - Stamp: Sidekick Sayings (SU!)  Paper: Pale Plum, Rich Razzleberry, Certainly Celery, Mind's Eye DP  Ink: Rich Razzleberry  Accessories: Victoria EF, buttons, twine, adhesive pearls, scallop border punch, Rich Razzleberry grosgrain ribbon, buttons, paper piercer, sponge dauber

Okie dokie, will I have time to do one more today?  We'll see.  Supper hasn't been started yet so I better think of something....FAST.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Installment #2

Welcome back!
This installment of Melissa's Crafting Marathon is brought to you today by The Color Dare and La-La Land Crafts.

I LOVE these colors together - so serene.  I thought it would be perfect for a sympathy card.  I used a lot of white on this card but I really like how it turned out:

Recipe - Stamps: Notes of Prayer (Verve), Flowers in Silhouette (SU!)  Paper: Ruby Red, Bashful Blue, Kiwi Kiss, SU! DP, Whisper White  Ink: Ruby Red  Accessories: Swiss Dots EF, Styled Silver HPH, adhesive pearls, sponge dauber, paper piercer, scallop border punch (SU!)

I guess it's time to get lunch ready - all the kids are home from school today.  I will be back after lunch to work on The Pink Elephant Sketch and the Diva Coffee Break Designs Color Challenge:

 See ya in a bit!

It's Gonna Be a BUSY Day

It seems like Wednesday is the busiest day for the new week's challenges to be posted so if I don't get stated right away, I tend to *not* get them done at all.

There were four color challenges posted this morning so I *had* to find some sketches for each of them.  The first color challenge I decided to tackle was from Stampin' Royalty - what a combination.  People must be getting tired of winter because a lot of the color challenges lately have been using some bright combinations and this is no exception:

My craftin' peep, Lori, used this sketch from Sketch Saturday to make a very lovely card so I thought I'd give 'er a whirl too:

There have also been a lot of square cards... I made mine 5" x 5".

Recipe - Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Small Sayings  Paper: Whisper White, Only Orange, Summer Sun, Green Galore, Pixie Pink, unknown DP  Ink: Summer Sun, Pixie Pink  Accessories: Nestabilities, paper piercer, paper flowers, brads, modern label punch, ribbon sliders, ribbon, Swiss Dots EF, Victoria EF

Thanks for stopping by - please check back in a bit for the next installment of my Hump Day Crafting Marathon!

My Contribution...

... to Taylor's Dragonfly Card Drive ~ you can read all about it on her blog.  I think it's a fabulous cause and I plan to make a few more cards before I send them off to Iowa.  :)

I used Tuesday Morning Sketches' challenge from this morning - was I ever surprised to see a *color* challenge!  I guess the old saying is true, "You can't judge a book by its cover," or, in this case, a "blog by its title."  Melissa chose dark brown, light orange, and ivory:

Again, I didn't have any Apricot Appeal or anything *really* light orange but I did manage to find some old "My Mind's Eye" DP that I had forgotten about ~ I think it turned out OK:

The stamp is an old Hero Arts stamp called, appropriately, Dragonfly.  I have always loved dragonflies so when I read Taylor's blog post, I knew I had to help.  I hope you will pop over to her blog for more information and make a card or two of your own.

I'll be home all day tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have something to share with you then ~ later!

Tuesday Morning Fun - Take Two!

I did this one first thing this morning using Samantha's Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo Challenge and Julee's Mojo Monday sketch:

I chose square.  :)

I used Verve's "Forever in Our Hearts" stamp set - I thought the colors would make a nice sympathy card.

Thanks for stopping by - enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

Tuesday Morning Fun

I've been busy this morning trying to get a couple of challenges done while trying not to listen to the eldest son throw up incessantly... *sigh*  Knock on wood, though, I think he's fallen asleep for now.

I waited very patiently for Arielle to post her Colour Q Challenge and then spent at LEAST 20 minutes looking for something that would pass for Apricot Appeal (yet one more colour I don't have!):

I found this sketch on the weekend at Crazy 4 Challenges but haven't used it yet - I love all the layers!  You're surprised by that, I know...*wink*

It was tough - 'specially with that Green Galore thrown in - but I think I did OK:

Don't you just love this Bella?? Her hair flowing behind in the wind, her snazzy hubcaps... makes me smile!

I've got one more card to post and then I need to do some *stuff* around the house.  See you in a bit!

A Sweet Curtain Call

Morning everyone!

I woke up early this morning and had a few spare minutes before getting ready to go to my monthly stamp group so I put together another *relatively* quick card.

Stacey's Curtain Call is SOOOO pretty this week.  The colors are super-fabulous together:

I don't have ANY Ballet Blue so I had to dig through my other CS to see what I could find.  I found a small package of assorted Coredinations CS and chose one that looked pretty close.  Then I whipped over to Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch:

Ummmmm...OK.......wow.....  I was a bit scared when I saw all of the different shades of grey but relieved when I saw Karen's sample.  It really wasn't that hard at all once I figured out the placement of my papers.

I know, I KNOW... you're all tired of seeing me use the Thankful Accents set from Verve but it just makes the most elegant, BEAUTIFUL focal point!  With that being said, I must apologize to both Karen and Stacey because I used this set for my card LAST week too!  :)

I am going to get a meatloaf ready for DH to put in the oven for the dinner since I likely won't be home until close to 6 p.m. - it's so hard to make something themselves, you know???  *insert eyeroll here...*  Enjoy your Sunday evveryone!
